Asum has faith in Pandelela

Despite Pandelela Rinong’s recent erratic form in the six-leg World Series, the Amateur Swimming Union of Malaysia (Asum) is confident the diver will retain her gold medal in the women’s 10m platform at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games on July 23-Aug 3. Pandelela finished second overall behind China’s Liu Huixia in the World Series but failed to finish on the podium in the final three legs. She only did so as some competed in selected legs. Canada’s Meaghan Benfeito and compatriot Roseline Filion along with Britain's Tonia Couch have all improved, and the trio are expected to give the Malaysia a tough time in Glasgow. Gym At National Aquatic Centre Will Be Fully Equipped By Next Month - NSC

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 (Bernama) -- The gymnasium at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil will be fully equipped and ready by next month says the National Sports Council (NSC). NSC's Director for Preparation of Athletes, Arrifin Ghani said 10 new trampolines have been ordered from China while two new springboards would be installed and the non-slip mats installed at the 10m platform. "However, the gym can still be used by the diving squad for training purposes while waiting for the new equipment to arrive," he said in a statement here Wednesday.
