KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's young bowler Jacqueline Sijore claimed her maiden gold medal internationally after defeating Son Yun-hee of South Korea in the singles final of the 2011 World Women's Championship (WWC) in Hong Kong today. The 19-year-old Sarawakian lass blazed the bowling alley to outclass her opponent 266-217 to capture the gold medal, according to the competition's official website. Earlier in the semi-finals, she had defeated Singapore's Shayna Ng 246-214 to book her berth in the final while Yun-hee defeated Mai Ginge Jensen of Denmark 279-268. PETALING JAYA, Jan 12 (Bernama) -- Defending champion Selangor look set to retain the overall title again after a strong performance on the first day of the 22nd Interstate Bowling Championship at the Pyramid Mega Lanes in Bandar Sunway. Selangor led the medal tally with two golds from the men's and women's singles events. The golds came from national bowler Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman and Alex Liew in the women and men's singles titles, respectively. "It was a superb performance by the players. ESTHER Cheah will spearhead Malaysia's challenge at the 9th Milo World Junior All-Stars Bowling Championships which starts on Monday at the Sunway Megalanes in Bandar Sunway. Esther, who is currently pursuing a degree in psychology at University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the United States, will return for her semester break on Dec 22. National coach Holloway Cheah said the tournament will give him a chance to gauge Esther's current form. "I will need to have a look at her before she returns to the US next month.
