TUAN rumah Sukan Malaysia (Sukma) 2010, Melaka tetap akan menganjurkan 25 jenis sukan seperti yang diputuskan oleh mesyuarat Majlis Sukan Malaysia pada Julai lepas. Ketua Pengarah Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN), Datuk Zolkples Embong berkata, ia diputuskan pada mesyuarat jawatankuasa tertinggi Sukma di Melaka pagi semalam yang menolak rayuan daripada persatuan-persatuan sukan untuk menambah beberapa acara pada temasya itu nanti. "Sebenarnya dalam menimbang rayuan itu, kami perlu mengambil kira beberapa faktor seperti keadaan ekonomi semasa dan kemudahan infrastruktur yang diperlukan untuk menjalankan acara tersebut," katanya semalam. Beliau berkata, antara rayuan penambahan acara yang ditolak ialah sukan futsal dan tenis. KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 22 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Sports Council would not increase the number of sports for the 2010 SUKMA in Melaka from the 25 sports that was agreed in July. National Sports Council (NSC) Director General Datuk Zolkples Embong said though a number of sports associations had appealed to include a number of sports that were not in the original list, the SUKMA supreme council rejected the appeals at a meeting in Melaka today. "When considering the appeals, a number of factors like the current economic situation, infrastructure and cost were taken into account," he told Bernama here today. Zolkples said among sports that were turned down were futsal and tennis. "As for taekwondo, the Malaysian Taekwondo Association which is embroiled in an internal conflict must settle their problem one year before the Games and if they fail to settle the conflict, the sport might not be included although it is a compulsory Olympic sport," he said.
