KBS pastikan PHNJ anjur Piala Dunia Remaja

SELEPAS dihimpit gundah Johor Baharu bakal dilucutkan hak penganjuran Piala Dunia Remaja Jun depan, Persatuan Hoki Negeri Johor (PHNJ) menerima khabar gembira apabila Kementerian Kewangan dan Kementerian Belia dan Sukan tampil menghulurkan sokongan.

Menteri Belia dan Sukan, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, berkata pada dasarnya Kementerian Kewangan sudah meluluskan dana sebanyak RM3 juta untuk memastikan kejohanan berkenaan kekal di Johor.

“Kini mereka boleh menarik nafas lega kerana peruntukan berkenaan iaitu separuh daripada RM6 juta yang dipohon, sudah diluluskan dan kini hanya menunggu surat rasmi daripada Kementerian Kewangan.


“Ini bakal menjadi berita gembira buat PHNJ Johor kerana dengan adanya peruntukan ini, mereka boleh menyiapkan padang kedua untuk kejohanan berkenaan,” katanya.

Sebelum ini, PHNJ diberi kata dua oleh Persekutuan Hoki Antarabangsa (FIH) supaya menyiapkan padang kedua atau kejohanan itu dipindahkan ke lokasi lain. PHNJ menjadi penganjur bersama Singapura dengan perlawanan akhir akan diadakan di Johor Bahru.

Pembinaan padang kedua Stadium Hoki MBJB di Taman Daya, Johor Baharu terjejas berpunca masalah kewangan selepas padang utama menelan belanja RM17 juta.

Setiausaha PHNJ Manjit Majid Abdullah, bulan lalu dipetik sebagai berkata peruntukan kewangan tambahan diperlukan bagi meneruskan projek pembinaan padang kedua membabitkan padang sintetik, empat tiang lampu, sistem perparitan dan tempat duduk Grand Stand.

Ismail Sabri berkata, kementerian mengambil keputusan untuk tampil menghulurkan dana kepada persatuan berkenaan kerana tidak mahu masalah berkenaan akan menjejaskan imej negara.

"Kita sebolehnya tidak mahu disebabkan masalah kewangan, kejohanan bertaraf dunia seperti itu tertangguh dan terganggu," katanya.

Sementara itu, Ketua Pengarah Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN), Datuk Zolkples Embong, berkata pihaknya akan segera menyalurkan dana berkenaan kepada PHNJ sebaik saja menerima peruntukan itu daripada Kementerian Kewangan.
