Pemanah kita lebih sedia

KUALA LUMPUR - Tatkala aksi hambar bola sepak tempatan mengundang seribu satu persoalan, lain pula masalah di benak jurulatih memanah negara dari Korea Selatan, Lee Jae-Hyung.

Masalah yang ditanggung Jae-Hyung sebenarnya mungkin mampu menjadi penawar buat rakyat Malaysia yang masih berduka dengan aksi longlai skuad bola sepak kebangsaan.

Masakan tidak, ketika diminta menamakan pemanah terbaik negara kala ini, jurulatih itu seakan teragak-agak berikutan prestasi para pemainnya kini berada di tahap yang amat memuaskan dan lebih kurang sama.

"Cheng Chu Sian, Muhammad Marbawi Sulaiman dan Wan Mohd. Khalmizam Wan Abd. Aziz serta beberapa pemain lain semuanya berada di prestasi terbaik. Agak sukar untuk menentukan yang terbaik di kalangan mereka," katanya ketika dihubungi Utusan Malaysia, semalam.

''Sekalipun tidak menyertai sebarang kejohanan sepanjang lima bulan selepas Olimpik, prestasi pemanah kita masih di tahap yang baik dan saya lebih banyak menumpukan kepada latihan fizikal bagi memastikan mereka sentiasa bersedia,'' ujarnya.

Ditanya mengenai kejohanan-kejohanan yang bakal menjadi tumpuan skuadnya sepanjang tahun ini, Jae-Hyung meletakkan Kejohanan Memanah Dunia di Korea selain Sukan SEA di Laos sebagai fokus utama.

"Kami akan bermula dengan Grand Prix Asia di Bangkok Februari depan sebelum mengorak langkah lebih jauh pada kejohanan-kejohanan lain seperti Kejohanan Memanah Dunia di Korea sehinggalah Sukan Sea di Laos.

"Setakat ini saya masih belum mahu menetapkan sebarang matlamat tetapi pastinya kami akan melakukan sebaik mungkin bagi mendapatkan pingat," katanya.

Pada Sukan Olimpik Beijing tahun lalu, skuad memanah negara beraksi cemerlang sekalipun gagal membawa pingat dengan Chu Sian, Wan Khalmizam dan Muhammad Marbawi mara ke suku akhir acara berpasukan sebelum tewas kepada Itali.

Chu Sian turut mencipta kejutan dengan menewaskan pemegang rekod Olimpik, Lee Chang-Hwan dari Korea Selatan dalam acara individu sebelum tumbang kepada pemanah Rusia, Badenov Bair di separuh akhir.

Jae Hyung menambah, setakat ini masih belum ada pemanah yang akan pasti dihantar ke Laos dan pemilihan mereka hanya akan dilakukan dalam masa dua atau tiga bulan sebelum kejohanan itu.

"Saya tidak ragu dengan kemampuan para pemanah kita. Cuma saya kini sedang berusaha memantapkan pasukan dari segi mental dan keyakinan mereka.

"Mengenai pemilihan pemanah ke Laos, masih terlalu awal untuk menentukannya dan saya akan memilih di kalangan yang terbaik dalam masa dua atau tiga bulan sebelum sukan itu berlangsung," tambahnya.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
