Atlit tak perlu terbabit dalam pengurusan persatuan: Mumtaz

ATLIT diminta kembali memberikan tumpuan kepada prestasi dan membawa pulang pingat untuk negara serta mengelak meluahkan sebarang rungutan kepada media tanpa merujuk terlebih dulu kepada persatuan sukan.

Bekas atlit negara, Datuk Paduka Mumtaz Jaafar, berkata perlakuan atlit masa kini nyata jauh berbeza dengan atlit pada zamannya yang menyuarakan sebarang masalah mereka menggunakan saluran yang betul.

“Kita perlu kembali kepada kaedah yang digunakan sebelum ini iaitu andai atlit mempunyai masalah, mereka boleh meluahkan kepada persatuan. Andai mereka tidak puas hati berkaitan jurulatih, mereka boleh adukan kepada jawatankuasa jurulatih.


“Sepatutnya atlit memberikan sepenuh tumpuan mereka untuk meningkatkan prestasi dan membawa pulang pingat, bukannya mencetuskan suasana yang kurang enak dalam persatuan,” katanya.

Beliau mengulas mengenai rasa tidak puas hati pemimpin dalam Kesatuan Olahraga Amatur Malaysia (KOAM) mengenai kelantangan beberapa atlit menyuarakan rasa tidak puas hati mereka terhadap persatuan kepada media baru-baru ini.

Mumtaz yang juga Pengerusi Yayasan Kebajikan Atlit Kebangsaan ditemui selepas majlis pelancaran Pameran Sukan dan Dagangan Antarabangsa Malaysia 2009 yang bakal diadakan Jun depan. Pelancaran disempurnakan Menteri Belia dan Sukan, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Mumtaz berkata, secara peribadi, atlit tidak perlu terbabit dalam pengurusan dan pentadbiran persatuan kerana tugas mereka sebenarnya adalah memburu kecemerlangan dan mencipta nama di pentas lebih tinggi.

“Bagi saya, atlit yang gagal memberikan persembahan terbaik di pentas antarabangsa akibat masalah disiplin dan sebagainya, boleh dianggap sebagai pengkhianat negara kerana segala perbelanjaan latihan mereka ditanggung kerajaan menggunakan wang rakyat

“Malah, bagi saya, mereka juga tidak wajar terbabit dalam pengurusan dan mesyuarat persatuan kerana itu bukan tugas mereka. Tugas mereka di balapan,” katanya.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
