O'Halloran, Zhiyun raih kejayaan di Tasik Kenyir

MATHIEU O'Halloran dan Lin Zhiyun masing-masing menjuarai kategori terbuka lelaki dan wanita pada Kejohanan Triatlon Antarabangsa Tasik Kenyir 2009 yang berakhir di Pengkalan Gawi semalam.

O'Halloran, 23, dari Kanada mengungguli edisi kelima itu dengan catatan masa dua jam dua minit 19 saat untuk meraih hadiah wang tunai RM1,800.

Pertandingan anjuran Lembaga Kemajuan Terengganu Tengah (Ketengah) itu memerlukan peserta mengharungi acara berenang sejauh 1.5 kilometer, berbasikal (40km) dan larian sejauh 10km.

Tempat kedua dimenangi oleh peserta Singapura, Sikhander Singh dengan catatan masa 2:07:38s manakala peserta tempatan, Barry Lee Chun Sing menduduki tempat ketiga dengan catatan masa 2:13:22s.

Lin Zhiyun, 22, dari Singapura muncul sebagai peserta terbaik kategori wanita dengan mencatatkan masa 2:28:10s untuk mengalahkan peserta Britain, Emma Bishop yang mencatatkan masa 2:32:00s.

Tempat ketiga dimenangi oleh peserta Malaysia, Stephanie Chok yang mencipta masa 2:37:43s.

Sementara itu, peserta tempatan menguasai tiga kedudukan teratas bagi kategori lelaki 15 hingga 19 tahun apabila Nicholas Choy Mun Thow muncul juara dengan catatan 2:23:27s.

Steve Choy Mun Yoong (2:24:42s) dan Ho Kok Yaw (2:29:32s) masing-masing menduduki tempat kedua dan ketiga.

Malaysia juga mengungguli kategori wanita 35 tahun ke atas setelah tiga peserta menduduki tiga tempat teratas iaitu Lisa Oon dengan catatan masa 2:50:29s diikuti Carmen Leong Ban Yeik (2:53:06s) dan Wong Siew Seng (2:56:00s).

Bagi kategori lelaki 40 hingga 49 tahun, tempat pertama disandang Shahrom Abdullah dari Malaysia dengan mencatat masa 2:09:11s diikuti peserta Thailand, Koday Senmood (2:16:40s) dan seorang lagi peserta tempatan, Muhammad Hafiz Wong (2:17:06).

Peserta tuan rumah, Muhamad Razani Husain merangkul gelaran kategori lelaki 40 hingga 49 tahun setelah mengalahkan peserta Jepun, Iwata Takatoshi dan Thailand Niphon Suwan dengan catatan masa 2:10:58s.

Iwata mencatatkan masa 2:23:14s dan Niphon pula di tempat ketiga dengan catatan masa 2:25:01s.

Seramai 373 peserta daripada 17 negara menyertai kejohanan itu yang menawarkan hadiah wang tunai keseluruhan RM50,000.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
