KOTA TINGGI, April 26 (Bernama) -- National shooters representing the Johor Clay Target Shooting Association (JCTSA) won the 12th edition of the Sultan Iskandar Cup, ending a 12-year trophy drought.
Edward Khor, Tan Tiang Xiang and Choi Kim Mun who made up the JSTSA A-Team beat their nearest rival and runner-up, JCTSA B-Team while the third place was clinched by the SCTSA C-Team.
It was double joy when Khor won the gold medal while Tan and Choi took the silver and bronze respectively.
"We had a healthy lead from the start of this competition on Friday which contributed to this historical win," said Khor who has several years of experience competiting in various international tournaments.
More than 200 shooters from Asean countries competed in three clay target events, namely the Double Trap, Olympic Trap and Skeet, during the three-day competition.
Meanwhile, Khor lamented the absence of shooting at the Laos SEA Games in December in which Malaysia could win at least bronze medals.
"At the 2007 Korat SEA Games in Thailand, we didn't win any medal. But we are much better now and we are therefore disappointed with the exclusion of shooting at the Laos SEA Games," he said.
"However, this will not affect our motivation as we will compete extensively to further polish our skills and improve our focus," he said.

It is the easy-going, laid-back attitude and lack of competitiveness at grassroots level that we have problems producing quality players. I have travelled quite a bit. After ending my decade-long career with the national team, I went to play in the league in Europe. It’s different there. The European athletes know what they want. And they do it with real focus. Even the young ones possess admirable self-control and show a high level of commitment. During my time in the ...
