Roslinda gagal lepasi 4.35m

Raih emas di NS dengan 4.25m, yakin layak ke Kejohanan Dunia

KEGAGALAN menyertai Kejohanan Olahraga Terbuka Thailand akibat masalah keselamatan tidak memberi kesan terhadap jaguh lompat bergalah negara, Roslinda Samsu yang melakukan lompatan setinggi 4.25 meter pada Kejohanan Terbuka Negeri Sembilan, hujung minggu lalu.

Lompatan yang memberikan pingat emas buat atlit kelahiran Kuala Nerang, Kedah itu lebih baik dari catatan 4.14m dilakukannya ketika memenangi emas pada Kejohanan Terbuka Taiwan, bulan lalu.

Namun, dia yang pertama kali cuba mengatasi ketinggian 4.35m untuk melepasi syarat ke Kejohanan Dunia, gagal melepasi palang dengan jarak yang begitu hampir, tetapi tetap yakin mampu melepasinya sedikit masa lagi.

"Ia sudah begitu hampir untuk melepasi 4.35m, secara teknikal dia sudah menunjukkan peningkatan dan saya yakin ketinggian itu berada dalam jangkauan," kata jurulatih Roslinda, Manshahar Abd Jalil.

Katanya, walaupun hanya menyertai dua kejohanan setakat ini, anak buahnya itu sudah banyak menunjukkan peningkatan dan dia kini dalam perancangan untuk menghantar Roslinda dan dua lagi atlit ke Terbuka Filipina minggu depan.

Menurutnya kejohanan di sana akan berlangsung dari 8-12 Mei tetapi dia masih belum pasti sejauh mana tahap kompetitif kejohanan itu tetapi dikhabarkan ramai antara jaguh-jaguh dari rantau ini akan menyertainya.

Roslinda, menurut Manshahar, dijangka dihantar untuk menyertai lima atau enam kejohanan bagi memberikannya ruang bagi meningkatkan prestasi seterusnya mampu mencapai ketinggian 4.35m untuk layak secara merit ke Kejohanan Dunia di Berlin, Ogos ini.

Catatan terbaik Roslinda ialah 4.40m yang juga rekod kebangsaan dilakukannya pada Kejohanan Mataro di Sepanyol pada 2006 tetapi sehingga kini, dia masih gagal menyamai catatan itu.

Bagaimanapun, Manshahar berkata, dia dalam proses perbincangan dengan Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN) dan Kesatuan Olahraga Amatur Malaysia (KOAM) bagi menghantar Roslinda ke Eropah.

"Jika menjadi kenyataan, dia akan ke sana pada penghujung Mei ini," katanya sambil menegaskan dia mahu Roslinda lebih menyerlah pada Kejohanan Trek dan Balapan Asia (ATF) di China pada November selain Sukan Sea serta Komanwel, tahun depan.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
