Atlit olahraga elit buat perhitungan di Temerloh

SELEPAS dua pembatalan kejohanan - Terbuka Filipina dan latihan serta pertandingan di Mannheim, Jerman - atlit olahraga elit dan pelapis kebangsaan berpeluang memperagakan keupayaan pada Terbuka Pahang ke-43 selama dua hari, bermula Sabtu ini di Temerloh.

Antara barisan atlit elit yang bakal berhimpun, termasuk Robbani Hassan dan Muhd Faiz Muhammad (110 meter berpagar), Mohd Zafril Zuslaini (400m), M Vadivellan (800 dan 1,500m), S Narendran (200m) serta barisan pelari pecut Abdul Latif Nyat, Zabadi Ghazali dan Zabidi Ahmad.

Barisan atlit wanita dibarisi jaguh baling tukul besi, Siti Shahidah Abdullah dan Yap Jeng Tzen. Bagaimanapun kelibat jaguh lompat bergalah, Roslinda Samsu tidak ada dalam senarai, begitu juga dengan pakar lompat tinggi lelaki, Lee Hup Wei.

"Lebih 400 atlit lelaki dan wanita daripada seluruh persatuan negeri, ahli gabungan Kesatuan Olahraga Amatur Malaysia (KOAM) dan kelab akan mengambil bahagian dalam kejohanan kali ini," kata Setiausaha Persatuan Olahraga Amatur Pahang (POAP), R Anamalai.

"Kami menjangkakan atlit elit dan pelapis akan mengambil bahagian dan selepas kejohanan Terbuka Filipina dibatalkan serta rancangan latihan dan pertandingan di Jerman turut ditangguhkan, kejohanan ini peluang terbaik kepada atlit untuk menguji keupayaan mereka.

"Tahun ini ada beberapa pertandingan penting seperti kejohanan dunia di Berlin, ATF (Kejohanan Olahraga Asia) di Guangzhou serta Sukan Sea di Laos dan atlit berpeluang untuk cuba melayakkan diri dalam ketiga-tiga temasya ini.

"Sekalipun pertandingan luar negara berkurangan tetapi kejohanan dalam negeri boleh dijadikan pengganti dan saya berharap semua atlit yang bertanding akan memberikan persembahan terbaik mereka dan tidak memberikan sebarang alasan ketiadaan pencabar berwibawa menyebabkan mereka gagal untuk menampilkan aksi cemerlang," katanya.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
