'Bertanding secara sihat'

Ahmad Shabery mahu pemilihan MOM berjalan dengan semangat demokrasi

KETIKA debaran pemilihan pucuk pimpinan Majlis Olimpik Malaysia (MOM) Sabtu ini kian memuncak, desakan makin meningkat supaya proses pengundian berjalan dengan penuh semangat demokrasi tidak diganggu sebarang anasir tidak bermoral dan politik wang.

Malah, peringatan ini dikeluarkan sendiri oleh Menteri Belia dan Sukan, Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek yang berharap calon yang bertanding, bersaing secara sihat dan demokratik selain menyedari betapa tanggungjawab sebenar mereka adalah untuk memajukan sukan.

"Kita berharap mereka dapat bertanding secara penuh demokratik dan apa yang penting, mereka yang dipilih mampu membawa perubahan serta dapat memajukan sukan ini ke peringkat lebih tinggi," katanya yang dipetik sebagai berkata, semalam.

Kata-kata ini terbit ekoran peringatan yang dikeluarkan Pengerusi Panel Bebas MOM, Norminshah Sabirin yang memberi amaran keras terhadap perlakuan tidak beretika dan tidak bermoral oleh sesiapa pun serta harus tahu bahawa 'politik wang' dalam mana-mana pemilihan adalah satu kesalahan.

Ia adalah kali pertama kenyataan sebegitu dikeluarkan menjelang pemilihan pucuk pimpinan MOM.

Apa yang pasti, kehangatan pemilihan ketara apabila dua pemimpin utama - presiden, Tunku Tan Sri Imran Tuanku Ja'afar dan timbalannya, Datuk Dr M Jegathesan - masing-masing ditentang dua tokoh politik, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim dan Datuk Seri Dr Ibrahim Saad.

Sementara itu, Ketua Pengarah Majlis Sukan Negara, Datuk Zolkples Embong, berkata MSN tidak mempunyai sebarang masalah bekerja dengan mana-mana pihak namun berharap, mereka yang terpilih mampu membangunkan sukan negara.

"Kita tidak menyokong mana-mana pihak dan akan menerima segala keputusan, Sabtu ini. MSN juga menganggotai beberapa jawatankuasa dalam MOM dan kita akan bekerjasama dengan sesiapa yang dilantik," katanya.

Jawatan lain turut dipertandingkan nanti ialah empat naib presiden yang di saingi enam calon, pertarungan empat penjuru buat jawatan penolong setiausaha kehormat lelaki serta dua calon buat kerusi penolong setiausaha kehormat wanita

Govt Always Gives Emphasis To Sporting Culture, Says PM
