Elakkan kontroversi

KUALA LUMPUR – Selepas melihat situasi sedikit tegang menjelang pemilihan Majlis Olimpik Malaysia (MOM), Sabtu ini, Menteri Belia dan Sukan semalam tampil bersama nasihat, elakkan sebarang kontroversi.

Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek sebaliknya menasihatkan perwakilan MOM agar memilih dengan bijak dan meletakkan kepentingan sukan sebagai keutamaan.

Mengakui tidak memihak kepada mana-mana calon, Shabery menegaskan, beliau hanya mahu menyaksikan yang terpilih mempunyai matlamat untuk mengangkat sukan negara ke peringkat lebih tinggi.

“Saya tiada nasihat khusus kepada perwakilan, masing-masing ada hak untuk memilih siapa yang mereka mahu, cuma saya mahu ingatkan mereka agar elakkan daripada sebarang kontroversi.

“MOM bukan parti politik, ia merupakan badan yang tanggungjawabnya adalah mengangkat sukan tempatan ke peringkat antarabangsa, terutama matlamat Road To London 2012.

“Yang kalah kena hormati yang menang dan jangan timbul rasa tidak puas hati kerana yang paling penting kita mesti bekerjasama membawa matlamat untuk bawa sukan Malaysia ke peringkat lebih tinggi,’’ kata Shabery di Putrajaya, semalam.

Kelmarin, calon jawatan Presiden, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim menyuarakan kemarahannya terhadap penyandang jawatan, Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja’afar yang terdahulu mengeluarkan kenyataan bahawa pemimpin yang ingin bertanding jawatan MOM mestilah mempunyai pemikiran antarabangsa.

Shahidan, presiden empat persatuan sukan menyifatkan Tunku Imran sebagai seorang yang ‘berlagak’, sambil menyuarakan rasa meluat terhadap pemimpin berpengalaman yang hampir 10 tahun menerajui MOM itu.

Sementara itu dalam perkembangan berkaitan, Shabery terdahulu menerima kunjungan pelari maraton, Suhaimi Sulaiman yang bakal membuat larian seluruh Semenanjung Malaysia.

Meskipun masih belum menetapkan tarikh untuk memulakan cabarannya, Suhaimi, 27, yang merupakan pelari maraton bebas bakal membawa misi 1Belia menerusi lariannya ke seluruh tanah air.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
