MSN tetapkan Mini Olimpik Malaysia 29 Julai

Tarikh asal bertembung dengan pertandingan antarabangsa membabitkan sukan badminton

KONTROVERSI mengenai tarikh penganjuran kejohanan Mini Olimpik Malaysia yang kerap tertunda akhirnya diselesaikan dengan hos utamanya - Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN) memilih 29 Julai sehingga 9 Ogos ini untuk menganjurkannya.

Kejohanan yang julung kali diadakan dengan matlamat melahirkan serta mempersiapkan atlit untuk menghadapi Sukan Olimpik, sebelum ini dilanda masalah dengan tarikh asal pada 20 Jun, bertembung dengan beberapa pertandingan antarabangsa terutama membabitkan sukan badminton.

"Ini tarikh muktamad... tidak akan lagi penangguhan," kata Pengarah Pengurusan Acara MSN, Jalil Abdullah (gambar), semalam. "Selepas perbincangan dengan persatuan sukan terbabit tarikh 29 Julai-9 Ogos ini adalah tempoh sesuai kerana atlit daripada lapan sukan yang bertanding tidak terbabit dalam sebarang pertandingan antarabangsa.

"Tarikh ini juga membolehkan semua pertandingan diadakan serentak dan tidak perlu beberapa pertandingan dilangsungkan berlainan tarikh kerana ia tidak akan memenuhi tuntutan sebagai satu pertandingan Mini Olimpik.

"Dengan tarikh baru ini semua pertandingan akan dilaksana serentak tidak lagi secara berasingan dan kita berharap semua pihak akan setuju dengan tarikh ini," kata Jalil.

Lapan sukan terbabit dalam Mini Olimpik ini ialah akuatik, angkat berat, badminton, berbasikal, gimnastik, memanah, menembak dan olahraga.

Sebelum ini, MSN berhajat melaksanakan Mini Olimpik Jun ini tetapi tidak kesampaian apabila kejohanan berkenaan terpaksa ditangguhkan bagi membolehkan semua atlit utama negara mengambil bahagian.

Tarikh asal kejohanan iaitu pada 20 dan 21 Jun ini, bertindih dengan beberapa kejohanan utama badminton termasuk Terbuka Indonesia, di jadual pada 16 hingga 20 Jun diikuti kejohanan Grand Prix Emas di Johor.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
