Roslin, Chong Wei mara, Daren kecundang


KUANTAN - Pemain veteran, Muhd. Roslin Hashim melayakkan diri ke perlawanan separuh akhir Sirkit Badminton Kebangsaan Proton Terbuka Pahang apabila mudah menundukkan pemain Melaka, Syed Akbar Shah Syed Mustakim dengan 21-11, 21-19.

Bekas juara Terbuka Jepun itu mengambil masa 30 minit bagi menempah pertemuan dengan seorang lagi pemain pelapis negara, Chan Kwong Beng pada perlawanan separuh akhir hari ini di Stadium Tertutup Majlis Sukan Pahang (Sukpa), Indera Mahkota di sini.

Jika berjaya menewaskan Kwong Beng, Muhd. Roslin dijangka bertemu jaguh No. 1 dunia dan pilihan pertama, Datuk Lee Chong Wei yang diramal tidak berdepan masalah untuk mara ke perlawanan akhir Jumaat ini.

Kwong Beng sebelum itu menamatkan cabaran seorang lagi pemain pelapis negara, Liew Daren yang sebelum ini mengejutkan jaguh elit kebangsaan, Muhammad Hafiz Hashim. Kwong Beng menang dengan 21-17, 21-16 dalam masa 45 minit.

Sementara itu, Chong Wei turut tidak menghadapi banyak masalah untuk menewaskan pemain pelapis Kebangsaan, Tan Chun Seang yang mewakili BAM/Kedah dengan 21-9, 21-14 dalam masa 25 minit.

Dengan kemenangan itu, Chong Wei yang dalam impian mencipta hatrik pada kejohanan tersebut akan berdepan dengan seorang lagi pemain pelapis dan pilihan ketiga, Kuan Beng Hong yang telah menewaskan Mohd. Arif Abdul Latif dengan 21-15, 14-21, 21-17.

Dalam pada itu, saingan beregu lelaki pula menyaksikan empat pasangan pilihan, Koo Kien Kiat-Tan Boon Heong, Fairuzizuan Tazari-Zakry Latif, Chong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah dan Chan Chong Ming-Chew Choon Eng melangkah ke separuh akhir selepas berjaya mengenepikan saingan lawan masing-masing.

Beregu utama negara, Kien Kit-Boon Heong bagaimanapun terpaksa berhempas pulas apabila diheret ke permainan rubber sebelum berjaya menewaskan gandingan Mak Hee Chun-Tan Wee Kiong dengan 15-21, 21-10, 22-20 dalam masa 42 minit.

Kemenangan tersebut menyaksikan beregu pilihan utama akan berdepan dengan pasangan veteran dan pilihan ketiga, Tan Fook-Wan Wah yang menewaskan Khoo Chung Chiat-Ong Soon Hock dengan 22-20, 21-13.

Sementara beregu pilihan kedua, Fairuzizuan-Zakry pula akan berdepan dengan pilihan keempat, Chong Ming- Choon Eng selepas menewaskan pasangan muda negara, Lim Khim Wah-Ong Jian Guo dalam perlawanan mendebarkan, dengan 21-14 18-21 21-17 dalam masa 40 minit.

Chong Ming-Choon Eng sebelum itu turut diheret ke permainan rubber oleh gandingan Mohd. Lutfi Zaim-Teo Kok Siang sebelum menang, 16-21 21-16 21-15 dalam masa 45 minit.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
