Takraw Dunia: Thailand Ungguli Acara Beregu Lelaki, Wanita

KUALA TERENGGANU, 27 Mei (Bernama) -- Thailand menepati ramalan apabila menjuarai kategori lelaki dan wanita acara beregu pada Kejohanan Sepak Takraw Dunia Piala Malaysia edisi ketiga di Stadium Negeri di sini hari ini.

Pada perlawanan akhir bagi kedua-dua kategori berkenaan, skuad lelaki dan wanita Thailand menundukkan pasukan Vietnam, masing-masing dengan kemenangan 2-0.

Kategori tersebut pertama kali diperkenalkan dalam kejohanan berprestij itu, tahun ini.

Bagi kategori lelaki, Thailand yang dibarisi Rawat Pabehompoo dan Supachai Maneenat menewaskan gandingan Tran Quang Khai-Le Tien Dung dengan 21-12, 21-14 dalam masa 35 minit.

Di peringkat separuh akhir pagi ini, pasangan Thailand itu mengetepikan cabaran pasukan Malaysia B yang diwakili Mohd Shaikullah Md Noor-Mohd Shafiq Abdul Rahman 21-19, 21-18 manakala pasukan Vietnam mengalahkan gandingan Indonesia 22-20, 21-15.

Tempat ketiga milik bersama pasukan Malaysia B dan Indonesia setelah masing-masing tewas di peringkat separuh akhir.

Bagi kategori wanita, Tidawan Daosakul-Pikun Seedam dari Thailand menang ke atas pasangan Vietnam, Luu Thi Kim Thuy-Nguyen Thi Dien Neu 21-13, 21-17 untuk muncul juara.

Pasukan Malaysia C dan India menduduki tempat ketiga bersama dalam kategori berkenaan.

Sementara itu, Malaysia D muncul juara dalam kategori divisyen dua acara beregu lelaki apabila mengalahkan Brunei 2-1.

Malaysia D yang menurunkan Mohd Subha Mohd Latip-Mohd Haminuddin Mohd Najib bangkit daripada kekalahan pada set pertama untuk menewaskan Ismail Ang-Azri Tahir 18-21, 21-15, 17-16.

Hadiah kepada pemenang disampaikan oleh Presiden Persatuan Sepak Takraw Malaysia (PSM) Datuk Ahmad Ismail.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
