DUA pemain badminton No. 1 negara, Datuk Lee Chong Wei dan Wong Mew Choo masing-masing menempah laluan ke perlawanan akhir acara perseorangan pada temasya Mini Olimpik 2009 di Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara semalam.

Chong Wei yang juga pemain No. 1 dunia menepati ramalan selepas mudah menewaskan Sairul Amar Ayob 21-15, 21-5 pada aksi separuh akhir.

Lawan pemenang pingat perak Sukan Olimpik Beijing itu pada perlawanan akhir hari ini ialah bekas juara Seluruh England, Mohd. Hafiz Hashim

Hashim sebelum itu dipaksa bekerja keras oleh pemain veteran, Wong Choong Han dalam perlawanan tiga sebelum menang 21-19, 19-21, 21-18.

Dalam acara perseorangan wanita, kehebatan Mew Choo selaku ratu No. 1 negara bakal diuji pemain muda, Lydia Cheah.

Pada aksi separuh akhir semalam, Mew Choo mudah menundukkan Stephanie Shalini 21-9, 21-14, manakala Lydia menewaskan Sonia Cheah 22-20, 21-16.

Begitupun, kejutan berlaku dalam acara beregu lelaki apabila pasangan No. 1 negara, Koo Kien Keat dan Tan Boon Heong apabila terkandas di separuh akhir selepas tewas 19-21, 17-21 kepada Chan Chong Ming-Chew Choon Eng.

Chong Ming-Choon Eng akan menentang Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah pada perlawanan akhir hari ini selepas pasangan veteran itu menang ke atas beregu muda, Goh Wei Shem-Vontus Indra Mawan 21-15, 20-22, 21-18.

Acara beregu wanita pula bakal menyaksikan pertemuan pasangan No. 1 dunia, Chin Eei Hui-Wong Pei Tty menentang Chong Sook Chin-Woon Khe Wei.

Pada separuh akhir semalam, Eei Hui-Pei Tty menewaskan Lim Yin Loo-Ng Pau Leng 21-15, 20-22, 21-13 sementara Cook Chin-Khe Wei menang ke atas Lai Pei Jin-Shevon Lal Jemie 15-21, 21-9, 21-18.

Perlawanan akhir beregu campuran pula menemukan pasangan Peng Soon-Lui Ying menentang Mohd. Fairuzizuan Tazari-Pei Tty. - KOSMO

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
