Safiyah masih ada misi penting


SAFIYAH mahu tampil cemerlang pada Kejohanan Dunia di Melaka November depan.


PEMAIN boling negara, Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman mengakui dia masih mempunyai misi penting untuk diselesaikan tahun ini.

Meskipun acara boling tidak disenaraikan pada Sukan SEA di Laos Disember ini, namun Safiyah tetap berdepan dengan cabaran getir apabila beraksi pada Piala Dunia yang akan diadakan di Melaka, November ini.

Lebih menarik, kejohanan itu akan diadakan ketika Safiyah menyambut ulang tahun kelahirannya yang ke-19 pada 14 November.

Menurut Safiyah yang juga juara Kejohanan Ranking Masters Dunia Ke-9 di Naples, Itali pada Mac lalu, kejayaan pada Piala Dunia akan menjadi hadiah ulang tahun paling manis buat dirinya.

“Sudah tentu saya kecewa apabila acara boling tidak tersenarai pada Sukan SEA tahun ini,” kata Safiyah.

“Tetapi, itu tidak bermakna saya boleh ‘goyang kaki’ kerana masih ada kejohanan penting lagi yang akan saya sertai sebelum berakhirnya musim ini.

“Saya akan beraksi pada Kejohanan Boling Piala Dunia yang akan diadakan bermula 14 November ini ketika saya menyambut ulang tahun kelahiran yang ke-19.

“Tahun lepas, saya sekadar menduduki tempat ketujuh dan jika boleh, saya ingin mencatat keputusan yang lebih baik tahun ini.

“Jika menang, ia merupakan satu bonus dan juga hadiah hari jadi saya.

“Begitupun, saya sedar, bukan mudah untuk melakukannya.”

Berbeza dengan Safiyah, seorang lagi pemain boling elit negara, Zandra Aziela Ibrahim Hakimi lebih banyak menyertai kejohanan sirkit tempatan tahun ini sebelum memberi tumpuan pada Sukan Asia tahun hadapan.

“Tidak banyak kejohanan besar yang akan saya sertai sehingga penghujung tahun 2009 selain Terbuka Ancol di Jakarta Oktober ini,” kata Zandra.

“Selain itu, saya hanya menyertai kejohanan tempatan sebelum memberi tumpuan pada Sukan Asia tahun hadapan.”

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
