Jangan ketepikan Masum, ATM

KUALA LUMPUR – Setiausaha Agung Majlis Olimpik Malaysia (MOM), Datuk Sieh Kok Chi menyelar keengganan Persatuan Taekwondo Malaysia (MTA) memberi hak mengundi kepada Majlis Sukan Universiti (Masum) dan Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM).

Malah pegawai sukan negara itu menyifatkan keputusan yang dibuat pada Mesyuarat Agung Luar Biasa (EGM) MTA baru-baru ini sebagai tidak adil.

Katanya, keputusan yang dibuat baru-baru ini oleh jawatankuasa sementara seolah-olah tidak patut terhadap kedua-dua buah badan sukan taekwondo tertua negara itu.

“Keputusan yang dibuat oleh jawatankuasa sementara MTA tersebut adalah tidak logik dan tidak patut dilaksanakan.

“Kedua-duanya (Masum dan ATM) telah lama berada dalam MTA dan banyak memberi sumbangan besar kepada sukan taekwondo.

“Oleh sebab itu, tidak adil untuk mengenepikan kedua-dua persatuan ini daripada mengundi dalam MTA,” katanya kepada Utusan Malaysia pada majlis perasmian kursus taekwondo Poomsae Masum, di sini semalam.

Hadir sama pada majlis itu ialah Setiausaha Bahagian Sukan Pengajian Tinggi, Dr. Saharudin Ismail dan Pengerusi Taekwondo Masum, Nur Ekmal Buhary.

Mengulas lanjut, Kok Chi berkata, ATM telah berada dalam MTA selama 30 tahun, manakala Masum telah berkecimpung dalam badan sukan itu sekitar 25 tahun.

Jelasnya, tempoh yang lama tersebut telah membuktikan kesungguhan kedua-dua pihak itu dalam membangunkan sukan taekwondo negara dan melahirkan atlet cemerlang di peringkat dunia.

Selain itu katanya, ATM dan Masum merupakan dua buah institusi di bawah kementerian yang mampu menjadi lubuk untuk membekalkan atlet taekwondo yang baik.

Katanya, ia terbukti dengan kelahiran dua jaguh taekwondo negara, Chew Chee Chan dan Elaine Teo serta sumbangan pingat oleh sukan itu di kejohanan antarabangsa.

“Jika kedua-dua persatuan itu melakukan kesalahan, ia mungkin menyebabkan mereka kehilangan hak mengundi tersebut, tetapi perkara seperti itu tidak berlaku.

“Oleh sebab itu, saya merasakan keputusan itu tidak patut dikenakan ke atas ATM dan Masum. Namun begitu, saya percaya perkara ini akan dapat diselesaikan tidak lama lagi,” katanya.

Dalam pada itu, Dr. Saharudin berkata, dia berharap agar MTA tidak memperkecilkan sumbangan yang diberikan oleh ATM dan Masum kepada sukan taekwondo.

Katanya, MTA perlu mengambil kira kepentingan yang telah diberikan oleh kedua-dua persatuan itu dan bersikap lebih sensitif.

“Saya tidak berkecil hati dengan keputusan MTA tersebut kerana ia adalah perkara kecil. Perkara remeh temeh perlu diketepikan. Apa yang lebih penting, perjuangan membangunkan sukan taekwondo di negara ini.

“Namun permasalahan seumpama ini boleh diselesaikan secara baik menerusi rundingan,” katanya.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
