KBS idam lebih banyak kejayaan

KUALA LUMPUR – Kementerian Belia dan Sukan (KBS) mahu lebih banyak kejayaan dicipta oleh atlet-atlet kebangsaan tahun depan, selepas meraih kejayaan di Sukan SEA XXV Laos yang berjaya menarik perhatian seluruh rakyat Malaysia.

Timbalan Menteri Belia dan Sukan, Datuk Wee Jeck Seng berkata, pencapaian itu telah memberikan satu perspektif baru mengenai mutu sukan negara terutamanya kejayaan skuad bola sepak bawah 23 kebangsaan yang menamatkan kemarau 20 tahun penantian untuk meraih emas.

“Rasa puas dan gembira itu perlu kita teruskan ke tahun depan walaupun cabarannya jauh lebih besar dan getir,” katanya ketika berucap merasmikan majlis penutup Konvensyen Sukan Kebangsaan 2009, di Pusat Dagangan Dunia Putra (PWTC), semalam.

Beliau berkata, banyak lagi kejayaan boleh dicipta pada tahun depan yang padat dengan saingan sukan antarabangsa seperti Sukan Komanwel (India), Sukan Asia (China), Piala Thomas dan Uber (Malaysia), Sukan Olimpik Remaja (Singapura) dan Sukan Malaysia (Sukma).

“Saya percaya konvensyen kali ini akan dapat membantu kita merencana dengan lebih baik untuk menghadapi cabaran-cabaran yang mendatang,” katanya.

Empat kertas kerja sepanjang dua hari konvensyen itu berlangsung termasuk oleh dua pakar dari luar negara iaitu Penasihat Prestasi, United Kingdom Sports Performance Solution, Simon Amor (Great Britain) dan Timbalan Ketua Jabatan Olimpik, Biro Sukan Kompetitif Pentadbiran Sukan China, Yuan Shoulong.

“Ia pasti telah membuka minda peserta terhadap cabaran getir yang menunggu pada Olimpik 2012 dan bagaimana Great Britain bersedia untuk mengekalkan pencapaian 19 emas di Olimpik Beijing 2008.

“Selain itu, banyak yang boleh kita belajar dengan kejayaan China yang mengungguli Olimpik Beijing dengan 51 emas selain pencapaian atlet mereka setakat Ogos lepas yang memenangi 2,310 kejohanan di Olimpik, Piala Dunia, Kejohanan Dunia dan pelbagai acara antarabangsa yang lain selama ini.

“Malah atlet mereka juga telah mencatat 1,195 rekod dunia setakat ini dengan pendekatan negara Tembok Besar itu memusatkan tumpuan nasional terhadap pembangunan sukan elit,” katanya.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
