KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Hockey Federation (MHF) will stick by their decision to have all the Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) knockout stage matches played in Kuala Lumpur.
For the two-leg quarter-finals, one match will be held at the KL Hockey Stadium in Jalan Pantai and three will be played at the Tun Razak Stadium in Jalan Duta. The semi-final ties and final will be played at the Tun Razak Stadium.
Penang-based Nur Insafi have threatened to withdraw from the quarter-finals if they do not get to play one of the match at their home USM Stadium.
But MHF secretary Hashim Mohamed Yusof said yesterday that no changes would be made as all the teams had agreed to the fixtures prior to the start of the MHL Premier Division competition.
“It is for Nur Insafi to make a decision on their participation. They attended the team managers’ meeting prior to the start of the league competition and no objection was raised on the venues for the competitions on a carnival format,” he said.
The quarter-final ties will be played on Friday and Sunday. The semi-finals are scheduled for Feb 5 and 6 and the final is set for Feb 12.
Newcomers Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club (KLHC) go into the knockout stage as the Premier Division champions. They will be up against Division One runners-up Armed Forces-Airod in the quarter-finals. Premier Division runners-up Tenaga Nasional will play against Division One winners UiTM.
