Tony tolak pelawaan


TONY tidak mahu menerima tawaran pemilik West Ham.

KUALA LUMPUR - Taikun syarikat penerbangan negara, Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes (gambar) semalam menolak pelawaan untuk menjadi pemegang saham minoriti kelab bola sepak England, West Ham selepas beliau tewas dalam pembidaan untuk membeli kelab tersebut baru-baru ini.

Bekas pemilik Birmingham City, David Sullivan dan David Gold pada 19 Januari lalu berkata, mereka telah berjaya menguasai West Ham setelah memiliki 50 peratus pegangan saham.
Sullivan mempunyai pilihan untuk membeli baki 50 peratus pegangan saham tersebut pada bila-bila masa dalam tempoh empat tahun ini tetapi beliau lebih berminat untuk menarik individu lain yang juga penyokong West Ham seperti Tony untuk melabur dalam kelab itu.


Ditanya adakah beliau berminat, Tony bingkas menjawab: "Tidak."
"Sasaran saya hanyalah untuk memiliki 100 peratus saham kelab itu kerana saya rasa mereka hanya memerlukan seorang pemimpin sahaja. Saya tidak pasti memiliki dua pemimpin adalah sesuatu yang baik," katanya.
Tony yang juga Ketua Eksekutif syarikat penerbangan tambang murah, AirAsia serta ketua pasukan Lotus F1 Racing menambah, beliau sebenarnya mendapat sokongan penuh daripada penyokong West Ham dan sedia membawa pembaharuan dari segi pemasaran dan penjenamaan semula kelab itu.
