KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 (Bernama) -- Having secured second place at the Qatar International Regatta 2010 in Doha last Saturday, the national sailing squad is aiming for another victory at the 2010 Laser Asia Pacific championship to be held in Pattaya, Thailand, from March 6 to 12.
Malaysian Yachting Association general manager Mohd Afendy Abdullah expressed confidence that the team would not encounter much problems in Pattaya despite it being more challenging with higher sea waves compared with in Doha.
"We will leave early to Pattaya, that is on Feb 28, to enable them to make early preparations," he said when contacted by Bernama.
The sailors in the national squad include Khairulnizam Mohd Afendy, Muhamad Faizal Norizan, Nur Amirah Hamid and Khaurneeta Mohd Afendy.
After Pattaya, the national sailing squad would prepare for the Asia Sailing championship in Shanwei, China, from March 18 to 27, he added.
