Tanpa KBS, PKBM akan muflis

KUALA LUMPUR - Tidak ada siapa yang tahu masalah sebenar Persekutuan Kebangsaan Berbasikal Malaysia (PKBM) tetapi tanpa bantuan Kementerian Belia dan Sukan (KBS) mereka mungkin akan muflis.
Perkara itu disuarakan Presiden PKBM, Abu Samah Wahab yang juga penasihat perlumbaan Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2010, yang turut berterima kasih di atas bantuan KBS menganjurkan perlumbaan berprestij di Asia tahun ini.

Menurutnya, hutang sebanyak RM4.5 juta yang ditanggung selepas penganjuran LTdL tahun lalu menyebabkan mereka tersepit untuk membayar semula kepada pihak kontraktor yang mungkin akan mengambil tindakan undang-undang.

"Jika tindakan undang-undang diambil PKBM mungkin akan muflis dan dalam masa yang sama tidak ada program Road To London 2012 bagi mencapai sasaran memenangi pingat emas pertama di Sukan Olimpik," katanya dalam sidang media di sini, semalam.

Jelasnya, kerana mahu meneruskan impian agar pelumba trek negara mampu meraih pingat emas di Sukan Olimpik 2012, PKBM terpaksa meminta bantuan KBS untuk menyelasaikan masalah tersebut.
"KBS dengan rela hati menyelesaikan hutang tersebut dan menganjurkan perlumbaan LTdL tahun ini, sekarang hampir 95 peratus masalah hutang telah diselesaikan, manakala bakinya akan dibayar secepat mungkin,'' katanya.

PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal yesterday sentenced former athletics coach C. Ramanathan to 12 months' jail for molesting two junior athletes 19 years ago. Govt Always Gives Emphasis To Sporting Culture, Says PM

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
