MALAYSIANS will get to enjoy more local sports content on television as Astro Arena (Channel 801), the country's first 24-hour local sports channel, goes on air from today at noon.
"Astro continues to be ahead of the game by bringing the best of international and now local sports to Malaysian sports fans," said Lee Choong Khay, Head of Sports Business at Astro.
"We believe that Astro Arena meets the unfulfilled demand for local sports content and is able to provide more opportunities for national sports associations and other local sporting bodies to have their news and events viewed by a bigger audience on Astro's platform,"
"Just like how Sunday is a sports action day for most countries, we will start a new sports culture by introducing staple sports content on Astro Arena like Arena Bola Selasa and Arena Bola Jumaat which will present live coverage of Malaysian Super League matches on Tuesday and Friday nights with commentary from pundits, experts, coaches and former players.
"Astro Arena will also provide live coverage of sports events featuring Malaysian athletes competing at the regional as well as international level."
