Faizal mahu tawan Indonesia

SELEPAS berjaya meraih emas pada Sukan SEA di Laos Disember tahun lalu, pesilat kebangsaan, Faizal Abdullah kini memburu emas dalam Kejohanan Silat Dunia di Indonesia, Julai depan.

"Saya harap dengan bimbingan jurulatih, Nasri Nasir, saya dapat mencapai sasaran untuk membawa pulang pingat emas nanti," kata Faizal semalam.

Sebagai persiapan untuk menghadapi kejohanan itu, Faizal kini menjalani latihan intensif lima kali seminggu di Gimnasium Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN) di Bukit Jalil bersama pesilat lain.

Faizal berkata, dia juga akan menyertai Kejohanan Terbuka Belgium pada Mei depan yang akan dijadikan kayu pengukur kepadanya bagi menghadapi Kejohanan Dunia di Indonesia.

Mengenai cabaran di Indonesia nanti, Faizal berkata, pesilat Vietnam dijangka memberi tentangan sengit.
"Secara peribadi saya menganggap pesilat Vietnam bijak mengatur strategi dan meraih mata ketika perlawanan," katanya yang akan bertanding dalam Kelas H bawah 85 kilogram.

Faizal yang telah berkhidmat selama lapan tahun sebagai anggota tentera, mula mewakili negara sejak 2007 pada temasya Sukan SEA di Korat, Thailand dan Kejohanan Silat Dunia di Pahang.

Namun pada kedua-dua kejohanan tersebut, dia sekadar meraih pingat gangsa.

"Harapan saya bagi arena sukan silat ini adalah untuk mengharumkan lagi nama negara dan kalau boleh mahu terus bergiat dalam sukan silat," kata pesilat kelahiran Pontian, Johor ini.

Govt Always Gives Emphasis To Sporting Culture, Says PM

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
