Nur Suryani cipta sejarah di Sydney



PENEMBAK negara, Nur Suryani Mohd. Taibi (gambar) mencatat sejarah apabila meraih pingat perak dalam acara 10 meter Air Rifle wanita pada Kejohanan Menembak Piala Dunia yang berlangsung di Sydney, Australia semalam.

Kemenangan itu menjadikan Nur Suryani, 27, sebagai penembak pertama negara yang berjaya memperoleh pingat pada Piala Dunia.
Dia berjaya mengumpul 103.8 mata pada pusingan akhir untuk jumlah keseluruhan 499.8 mata.

Pingat emas menjadi milik Katerina Emmons dari Republik Czech yang berjaya memperoleh 104.1 mata pada hari terakhir dengan kutipan keseluruhan 503.1 mata manakala gangsa dimenangi oleh penembak Amerika Syarikat, Jamie Beyerle.

Nur Suryani, penembak kelahi- ran Perak yang berkhidmat dengan Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM), gagal memenangi sebarang pingat emas pada Sukan SEA di Laos tahun lepas.

Setiausaha Eksekutif Persatuan Menembak Kebangsaan Malaysia (NSAM), Mejar Jasni Shaari menyifatkannya sebagai suatu kejayaan besar bagi sukan menembak negara.

"Diharap kejayaan hari ini (semalam) adalah satu petanda positif bagi membuktikan bahawa penembak kita mempunyai kemampuan pada peringkat antara- bangsa dan saya harap kejayaan ini akan berterusan," katanya semalam.

Jasni berkata, Nur Suryani bersama sembilan lagi penembak dijadualkan pulang ke tanah air pada Ahad ini.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
