PKS: Lapan universiti terima peruntukan RM7.2j

KEMENTERIAN Pengajian Tinggi telah menyalurkan RM7.2 juta kepada lapan institusi pengajian tinggi awam (IPTA) bagi menjayakan program Pusat Kecemerlangan Sukan (PKS) yang mula dilaksanakan tahun ini.

Menterinya, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin berkata, lapan universiti yang terpilih dalam fasa pertama untuk dibangunkan PKS masing-masing menerima RM900,000.

Universiti berkenaan adalah Universiti Malaya dalam acara bola jaring, Universiti Sains Malaysia (renang), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (kriket) dan Universiti Putra Malaysia (ragbi).

Selain itu, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia bagi acara mendayung, Universiti Teknologi Mara (bola sepak), Universiti Utara Malaysia (golf) dan Universiti Malaysia Sabah (taekwondo).

"PKS ini berperanan untuk memperkemaskan lagi sistem pengurusan sukan di IPT dari segi pengurusan atlet, infrastruktur dan program kecemerlangan sukan," katanya selepas melancarkan Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) sebagai Pusat Sukan Tumpuan (PST) Pencak Silat di Johor Bahru semalam.



Menurutnya, IPT yang mempunyai fakulti pengajian sains sukan diberi tumpuan khusus dalam pembangunan PKS kerana mampu melaksanakan pelbagai kajian dan penyelidikan berkaitan sukan.

Program PKS yang merupakan sebahagian daripada Dasar Pembangunan Sukan IPT itu bertujuan merealisasikan hasrat kerajaan melahirkan 30 peratus atlet negara dari kalangan pelajar IPT menjelang 2015.

Dalam pada itu, UTHM telah menandatangani memorandum persefahaman (MoU) dengan Persekutuan Silat Kebangsaan (Pesaka) bagi menjalinkan kerjasama dalam menggerak dan membangunkan aktiviti sukan pencak silat.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
