KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 (Bernama) -- The organisers of the Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon, scheduled on June 27, hope to collect RM1 million for charity through the "Run For A Cause" slogan.
"The proceeds from the run will be distributed to five charity organisations, namely the Malaysian Association for the Blind, Malaysian AIDS Foundation, Malaysian National Cancer Council, Yayasan Anak Warisan Alam and Yayasan Amanah Standard Chartered," the event's advisor Datuk Seri Dr Ibrahim Saad told reporters here on Thursday.
Ibrahim said the event was not just a sporting event but rather a platform for corporate bodies in the country to fulfill their social obligations.
A number of artists and celebrities including A. Thanuja (Miss World/Malaysia), Fahrin Ahmad, Aishah Sinclair, Amy Mastura, Zainal Abidin would be among those invited, he said.
