Bola sepak tiada ‘layanan istimewa’

Skuad Rajagopal belum pasti dibiayai atau tanggung sendiri untuk ke Sukan Asia

WALAUPUN menamatkan kemarau 20 tahun negara memenangi pingat emas di Sukan Sea Laos, skuad bola sepak negara tetap tidak akan mendapat ‘layanan istimewa’ ketika Jawatankuasa Pemilihan Majlis Olimpik Malaysia (MOM) bermesyuarat bagi menentukan atlit yang layak beraksi di Sukan Asia Guangzhou, selama tiga hari bermula Isnin ini.

Skuad bimbingan K Rajagopal yang dipilih sebagai Pasukan Kebangsaan Terbaik pada malam Anugerah Sukan Negara, baru-baru ini susulan kejayaan memenangi emas itu kemungkinan besar dibenarkan beraksi pada temasya terbesar Asia itu

Tetapi, persoalan yang timbul adakah mereka layak diberi keistimewaan beraksi atas tiket Kategori A - dibiayai sepenuhnya - atau Kategori B - membiayai sendiri penyertaan - susulan daripada kejayaan manis yang dilakarkan itu

Setiausaha Kehormat MOM, Datuk Sieh Kok Chi, mengakui kejayaan skuad bola sepak melakar kejutan dengan meraih emas di Laos memang sesuatu yang istimewa dan mendapat pujian ramai.

“Saya tidak mahu mendahului jawatankuasa pemilihan tetapi realiti yang kita harus akui pentas Sukan Sea dan Sukan Asia adalah berbeza,” katanya tanpa mahu mengulas lanjut.

“Jadi, biar jawatankuasa pemilihan dipengerusikan Presiden MOM (Tan Sri Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja’afar) meneliti kes yang akan dibentangkan Persatuan Bola Sepak Malaysia (FAM) sebelum membuat keputusan,” katanya.

Tanpa diletakkan harapan tinggi dan hampir tersingkir di peringkat kumpulan, skuad bola sepak negara melakukan kejutan apabila menewaskan Vietnam 1-0 pada final di Laos sekali gus menamatkan kemarau memenangi emas selama 20 tahun

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
