Larian baton Sukma disambut meriah

MELAKA - Lebih 1,000 masyarakat berbilang kaum menyertai Larian Baton Sukan Malaysia (Sukma) XIII yang bermula di Dataran Majlis Bandaraya Melaka Bersejarah (MBMB), semalam.
Larian sejauh 23 kilometer bagi peringkat Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Bukit Baru itu diketuai Ketua Menteri, Datuk Seri Mohd. Ali Rustam.
Larian tersebut, yang menjelajah kesemua 28 DUN bertujuan mempromosikan Sukma XIII dan mula dilancarkan Mohd. Ali pada 28 Februari lalu bermula di DUN Kuala Linggi.
Ia dijangka berakhir di DUN Paya Rumput pada 12 Jun depan, iaitu hari perasmian Sukma di Stadium Hang Jebat.
"Saya harap orang ramai, terutamanya anak jati Melaka akan sentiasa bersemangat sepanjang masa bukan sahaja sehingga hari pertama Sukma, malah sehingga berakhirnya sukan itu, kita perlu terus beri sokongan.
"Melaka ada 800,000 penduduk dan jumlah yang sama juga perlu keluar beri sokongan untuk menunjukkan kebanggaan kita menjadi tuan rumah," kata Mohd. Ali.
Pada temasya kali ini, Melaka selaku tuan rumah membariskan 759 atlet dan pegawai untuk menyertai semua 33 acara sukan.
Mohd. Ali dalam ucapannya berkata, beliau berharap momentum sokongan rakyat terhadap Sukma XIII akan bertambah agresif memandangkan cuma tinggal 18 hari lagi untuk menyambut temasya dwi tahunan itu.
Bertemakan Harmoni dan Cemerlang, Perpaduan Remaja Melalui Sukan, Sukma XIII akan bermula dari 10 Jun hingga 19 Jun melibatkan 15 kontinjen termasuk Brunei.

Govt Always Gives Emphasis To Sporting Culture, Says PM

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
