Chong Wei, 4 beregu mara

KUALA LUMPUR – Jaguh No. 1 dunia, Datuk Lee Chong Wei mengetepikan masalah kecederaan lutut kiri untuk menyingkirkan pemain Indonesia, Dyonisius Hayom Rumbaka dan mara ke pusingan kedua kejohanan badminton Terbuka Indonesia, semalam.
Kemaraan Chong Wei, yang memburu kejuaraan hatrik pada kejohanan Siri Super itu turut diikuti perseorangan veteran, Wong Choong Hann serta empat beregu lelaki, Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong, Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah, Gan Teik Chai-Tan Bin shen dan Chow Pak Chuu-Hong CHien Hun.


Selepas dipaksa berhempas pulas untuk menyingkirkan Dyonisius pada pertemuan pertama mereka di Terbuka Singapura, minggu lalu, Chong Wei tidak menghadapi masalah di Istora Senayan apabila menang mudah 21-10, 21-14 dalam masa 31 minit.


Kemenangan dalam masa 31 minit itu akan menemukannya dengan pemain Jerman, Marc Zwiebler hari ini.
“Walaupun terasa sakit, saya tidak terlepas latihan. Saya mungkin bukan pada tahap yang terbaik tetapi saya akan terus mencuba,’’ kata juara All England itu.


Sementara itu, Choong Hann dipaksa berhempas pulas ketika menundukkan pemain tuan rumah, Yunus Alamsyah 20-22, 21-19, 21-17 bagi menempah pertemuan dengan Shon Wan Ho dari Korea Selatan.
Dalam saingan beregu, Kien Keat-Boon Heong tidak menghadapi masalah menjinakkan beregu tuan rumah, Chandra Wijaya-Luluk Hadiyanto 21-15, 21-15, kemenangan yang akan menemukan mereka dengan Liao Min Chun-Wu Chun Wei dari Taiwan.


Beregu muda Malaysia, Pak Chuu-Chien Hun mempamer aksi cemerlang selepas menewaskan pasangan Thailand, Songphon Anugritayawon-Sudket Prapakamol 21-14, 21-15.


Pasangan bebas, Teik Chai-Bin Shen pula menempah pertemuan dengan beregu tuan rumah, Muhammad Ahsan-Bona Septano selepas menundukkan gandingan dari New Zealand, Oliver Leidon-Davis-Henry Tam 21-13, 21-10.


Terdahulu, Ahsan-Septana mara selepas menyingkirkan seorang lagi beregu negara, Hoon Thien How-Ong Soon Hock 21-14, 23-25, 21-15.


Cabaran beregu senior negara, Tan Fook-Wan Wah diteruskan dengan menyingkirkan beregu England, Chris Adcock-Robert Blair 21-15, 21-14.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
