'Saya bergerak secara solo'

"KALAU masih diperlukan, saya terima saja dan kalau tidak, tak mengapa."
Demikian ulasan Tengku Mahkota Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah mengenai pencalonannya untuk bertanding jawatan Timbalan Presiden Persatuan Bola Sepak Malaysia (FAM) pada Kongres kali ke-47, 31 Julai ini.

Tengku Abdullah yang memegang jawatan No. 2 FAM itu selama 13 tahun sebelum melepaskannya pada 2007, menjelaskan bahawa keputusan sama ada baginda akan kembali semula dalam barisan kepimpinan FAM, terletak di tangan Presiden, Sultan Ahmad Shah dan para perwakilan pada kongres tersebut kelak.
Malah, baginda menyifatkan pengundurannya berikutan kekalahan skuad negara dalam Piala Asia pada 2007 lalu adalah pilihannya sendiri bagi memberi peluang kepada FAM membuat perubahan.
"Selama tiga tahun saya mengundur diri bagi memberi peluang kepada mereka yang ada dalam FAM melaksanakan wawasan dan visi mereka.

"Ketika itu saya mungkin agak kecewa kerana skuad Malaysia kalah dalam Piala Asia tetapi minat saya terhadap bola sepak masih kuat dan bersedia untuk kembali jika diperlukan.
"Begitupun, semuanya terpulang kepada presiden dan perwakilan kerana mereka yang akan menentukannya. Kalau diterima, saya ucapkan terima kasih dan kalau tidak diterima, tak mengapalah," ujar baginda selepas majlis Penajaan Kejohanan Hoki Piala Tun Abdul Razak antara Persekutuan Hoki Malaysia (PHM) dan 100PLUS di Kuala Lumpur semalam.

Tengku Abdullah menyandang jawatan Timbalan Presiden pada Februari 1992 dan pernah melepaskan jawatan tersebut kali pertama pada Mac 1993 sebelum kembali semula pada Februari 1994 hingga Julai 2007.

Namun pada pemilihan kali ini, baginda berdepan saingan daripada lima calon lain iaitu penyandang jawatan, Datuk Seri Redzuan Sheikh Ahmad, Datuk Che Mat Jusoh, Tan Sri Annuar Musa dan Datuk Abdul Mokhtar Ahmad.

Tengku Abdullah turut menjelaskan bahawa tumpuannya untuk kembali ke FAM tidak akan menam- bahkan beban tugasnya sebagai Presiden PHM.

"Saya sebenarnya dilantik sebagai Presiden PHM oleh Sultan Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah dan itu pun hanyalah sementara saja iaitu selama satu penggal.

"Tetapi ia tidak bermakna saya tidak boleh memberi tumpuan kepada kedua-dua sukan ini kerana saya rasa tiada masalah untuk membahagikan masa dalam dua persatuan sukan ini.
"Apa-apa pun kita tunggu dan lihat saja sama ada saya mampu menjalankannya atau tidak, itupun sekiranya saya diterima semula dalam FAM," ujar baginda.

Mengenai usaha sesetengah pihak yang mahu menggandingkannya dengan Annuar Musa, Tengku Abdullah berkata: "Ini yang saya tidak suka apabila ada pihak cuba membentuk gandingan sebegini.
"Saya tidak kisah untuk bergandi- ngan dengan sesiapa, dengan Annuar atau orang lain kerana saya sebenarnya bergerak secara 'solo'."

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
