LTdL 2011 lebih mencabar

DUA peringkat pendakian akan mencabar kehebatan pelumba pada Kejohanan Lumba Basikal Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) edisi ke-16 tahun depan.

Dua peringkat pendakian yang bakal diharungi pelumba adalah Cameron Highlands dan Genting Highlands.
Pelumba akan melaluinya untuk dua hari berturut-turut iaitu pada saingan peringkat keempat dan kelima.
Jelajah terulung di Asia itu turut menampilkan beberapa perubahan yang pastinya lebih mencabar dan sengit.
Ia akan berlangsung selama 10 hari bermula dari 23 Januari hingga 1 Februari 2011.

Ketika melancarkan LTdL 2011 semalam, Menteri Belia dan Sukan, Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek berkata, LTdL tahun depan akan lebih menarik kerana ia diadakan selama 10 hari meliputi dua pendakian berturut-turut yang pastinya lebih menarik.

“Pelumba akan melalui dua pendakian berturut-turut dan saya menganggap pendakian pertama di Cameron Highlands sebagai pemanas badan untuk mendaki ke Genting Highlands pada keesokan harinya.
“Selain itu, ia juga akan membiasakan diri pelumba untuk mengharungi beberapa peringkat perlumbaan yang turut meliputi pendakian tersendiri,” katanya selepas majlis pelancaran Imej dan Laluan LTdL 2011 di Putrajaya, semalam.

Turut hadir pada majlis tersebut ialah timbalannya, Datuk Razali Ibrahim, Ketua Setiausaha KBS, Datuk Mohid Mohamad serta Presiden Persekutuan Kebangsaan Berbasikal Malaysia (PKBM), Abu Samah Wahab.

Majlis tersebut turut menyaksikan surat pengiktirafan untuk tahap cemerlang daripada Kesatuan Berbasikal Antarabangsa (UCI) kepada PKBM melalui penganjuran LTdL 2010.
Selain itu, selepas empat tahun terpinggir, Pulau Langkawi kembali disenaraikan dan ia akan menjadi pembuka dengan menampilkan saingan peringkat pertama sejauh 91.90 kilometer yang akan bermula di Dataran Lang dan berakhir di Pekan Kuah.

Tambah Ahmad Shabery, Pulau Langkawi kembali sebagai laluan LTdL selepas mengambil kira pandangan daripada bekas Perdana Menteri, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamed.
“Pendangan ikhlas Tun Dr. Mahathir perlu diambil kira dan sebab itulah kami memasukkan semula Pulau Langkawi dalam laluan LTdL.

“Bagaimanapun, itu tidak bermakna setiap kali LTdL akan turut disertai oleh Pulau Langkawi kerana laluan perlumbaan mesti berubah bagi memberikan persaingan yang berbeza.”
Ahmad Shabery dalam masa yang sama turut mensasarkan jumlah penonton akan meningkat daripada 400 ribu tahun lalu kepada 800 ribu atau satu juta pada tahun depan.

Mengulas mengenai kos LTdL pada tahun depan, Ahmad Shabery memberitahu, bajet yang diperlukan adalah sekitar RM14 juta kerana pada tahun depan ia akan membabitkan perlumbaan di Pulau Langkawi selain jadual perlumbaan selama 10 hari.

“Pada tahun lalu, kos LTdL ialah sebanyak RM8 juta, namun ia masih belum melebihi peruntukan yang ditetapkan,” katanya.

Perlumbaan LTdL 2011 akan mencatat jarak sejauh 1,291.60 kilometer dan setakat ini, sebanyak 23 pasukan pro-tour, pro-continental, benua dan kebangsaan dijangka menyertai perlumbaan tahun depan.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
