Piala AFF: Nasib Malaysia bergantung pada majlis undian

PENYERTAAN Malaysia pada kejohanan dwitahunan anjuran Persekutuan Bola Sepak ASEAN (AFF), Piala AFF Suzuki 2010 dari 1 hingga 29 Disember depan kini bergantung kepada keputusan majlis undian di Hanoi, Vietnam hari ini.

Saingan peringkat kumpulan kejohanan yang akan disertai lapan pasukan itu akan dibahagikan kepada dua venue tuan rumah iaitu Indonesia dan Vietnam dari 1 hingga 8 Disember.
Pasukan yang diundi satu kumpulan dengan Indonesia akan beraksi di Stadium Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta dan Stadium Jalak Harupat, Bandung.

Manakala pasukan yang sama kumpulan dengan Vietnam pula bakal beraksi di Stadium My Dinh dan Stadium Hang Day di Hanoi.
Dua minggu lalu, Persatuan Bola Sepak Malaysia (FAM) telah menyatakan kebimbangan bahawa skuad kebangsaan mungkin terpaksa menarik diri daripada kejohanan tersebut jika diundi satu kumpulan dengan Indonesia.

Ia berkait rapat dengan isu keselamatan berhubung insiden gerakan anti-Malaysia oleh kumpulan Benteng Demokrasi Rakyat (Bendera) yang semakin menjadi-jadi di negara republik itu baru-baru ini.
"Segala keputusan rasmi berhubung pendirian FAM hanya akan ditetapkan Jawatankuasa Eksekutif FAM selepas kita mengetahui kedudukan kita pada majlis undian ini," kata Setiausaha Agung FAM, Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad ketika dihubungi Kosmo! di Hanoi semalam.


Menurut Azzuddin, turut bersamanya untuk mewakili Malaysia pada majlis undian di Hotel Sheraton Hanoi pada pukul 3 petang ini ialah Timbalan Presiden FAM, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah serta jurulatih kebangsaan, K. Rajagobal.

Pada edisi 2008, Malaysia yang dibimbing B. Sathianathan gagal ke separuh akhir setelah hanya menang 3-0 ke atas Laos tetapi tewas kepada Vietnam (2-3) dan Thailand (0-3) pada saingan Kumpulan B yang berlangsung di Phuket, Thailand.

Vietnam muncul juara menerusi agregat 3-2 setelah mereka menewaskan Thailand 2-1 pada aksi final pertama di Bangkok sebelum seri 1-1 pada aksi final kedua di Hanoi.

Bagi edisi kali ini, saingan separuh akhir akan berlangsung pada 15 dan 16 Disember serta 18 dan 19 Disember manakala aksi final berlangsung pada 26 dan 29 Disember depan.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
