KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 (Bernama) -- The National Sports Council (NSC) has set a nine-gold target for the Guangzhou Asian Games in China through cycling, tenpin bowling and squash.
NSC director-general Datuk Zolkples Embong said three of the nine gold medals were targeted from tenpin bowling, through men's singles, women's singles and doubles.
Zolkples said based on the squad's success in winning numerous titles at international tournament, it would not be impossible for the bowling squad to achieve that target.
"They are a balanced squad. In the past we depended heavily on the women keglers to deliver but now even the men, comprising Zulmazran Zulkifli, Adrian Ang, Muhd Syafiq Ridhwan and Muhd Nur Aiman Khairuddin are all capable of winning," he told reporters after watching the team training at the Endah Parade Megalanes in Sri Petaling here Wednesday.
Bowling offers 12 gold medals in the Guangzhou Asian Games scheduled from Nov 12-27.
