Pelumba lebuh raya berlatih di Colorado?


PELUMBA lebuh raya negara dicadangkan agar menjalani latihan di Colorado, Amerika Syarikat.


KEGAGALAN di beberapa kejohanan besar termasuk yang terbaru di Sukan Komanwel di New Delhi awal bulan ini menyaksikan kemungkinan skuad lebuh raya negara akan dihantar berlatih di Colorado, Amerika Syarikat dalam tempoh terdekat sebagai usaha melahirkan pendaki bertaraf dunia.

Saranan itu diluahkan ketua jurulatih, John Beasley kepada Persekutuan Kebangsaan Berbasikal Malaysia (PKBM) sebagai salah satu intipati post-mortem ringkas rentetan kegagalan demi kegagalan skuad lebuh raya negara dalam satu pertemuan di Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur semalam.

"Saya harus tegaskan bahawa adalah elok kalau kita hantar mereka (skuad lebuh raya) ke Colorado, Amerika Syarikat bagi memperkuatkan daya kayuhan ketika mendaki. Saya sedang kaji perkara ini secara serius kerana ketika ini Malaysia ketandusan pelumba handal yang boleh menang GC (keseluruhan klasifikasi).

"Kita ada ramai pemecut yang berkualiti seperti Anuar (Manan) dan Mamat (merujuk kepada Mohd. Harrif Salleh). (Mohd.) Zamri (Salleh) juga adalah pemecut yang bagus. Tapi lihatlah kepada barisan pelumba yang kuat ketika mendaki. Saya rasa Malaysia tiada pendaki yang bagus.

"Jadi saya akan berbincang dengan jurulatih lebuh raya yang baru iaitu John Seers untuk mencari tempat yang sesuai bagi menghantar pelumba berlatih di luar negara. Saya nampak elok berlatih di Colorado kerana John Seers pernah berlatih di sana dan beliau mempunyai ramai kenalan di sana.

"Malah John Seers pernah memberitahu saya bahawa rupa bentuk dan keadaan di Colorado sangat sesuai untuk latihan berbukit. Jadi saya akan kemukakan cadangan rasmi kepada persatuan untuk tindakan selanjutnya," katanya di Kuala Lumpur semalam.

Beasley yang turut mengadakan kunjungan rasmi bertemu Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif (CEO) Le Tour de Langkawi 2011, Mohamed Salleh di Pusat Akuatik, Bukit Jalil semalam merumuskan bahawa jatuh bangun pasukan Malaysia pada perlumbaan LTdL 2011 bermula 23 Januari tahun depan sangat bergantung kepada pelumba yang kuat mendaki.

"Saya nampak pelumba yang kuat mendaki adalah seperti (Muhammad) Adiq (Hussainie Othman) dan Amir (Mustafa Rusli). Bagaimanapun kita harus segera menambah bilangan pendaki. Cuba lihat dalam disipilin trek. Kita ada ramai pelumba trek yang sangat handal dan bertaraf dunia. Saya mahu perkara ini berlaku dalam pasukan lebuh raya Malaysia," katanya.

Jurulatih kelahiran Australia itu turut mencadangkan penganjur LTdL 2011 iaitu Kementerian Belia dan Sukan (KBS) supaya mengekalkan mutu penganjuran sebagaimana yang berlaku tahun ini.
"Sepanjang LTdL 2010 saya bertemu ramai pengurus dan jurulatih dari Eropah. Mereka sangat kagum dengan corak penganjuran yang sangat cemerlang khususnya jadual perlumbaan," katanya.
Presiden PKBM, Abu Samah Wahab menegaskan beliau akan segera mengkaji cadangan Beasley itu dan akan memanjangkannya kepada Ketua Setiausaha KBS, Datuk Mohid Mohamad dan CEO LTdL 2011, Mohamed.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
