Ragbi tetap ke Guangzhou

KUALA LUMPUR - Kesatuan Ragbi Malaysia (KRM) tetap akan menyertai ragbi tujuh sepasukan Sukan Asia Guangzhou, bulan depan biarpun mereka dibelasah Samoa, Papua New Guinea dan Kenya dalam Sukan Komanwel Delhi.

Dengan rombakan pengurusan dilakukan dan pemilihan semula pemain dirancang selepas Kejohanan Cobra 10 Sebelah, KRM percaya nasib skuad negara bakal berubah lebih baik, apabila berdepan Jepun, Hong Kong, Thailand dan Mongolia dalam Kumpulan A di Guangzhou.

Malah, KRM mengambil langkah drastik dengan mengambil alih semula pengurusan skuad tujuh sebelah negara, yang sebelumnya dikendalikan di Sabah, hasil satu keputusan mesyuarat Majlis di sebuah hotel di Petaling Jaya, kelmarin.

Presiden KRM, Datuk Wira Amiruddin Embi berkata, mesyuarat itu turut bersetuju melantik Boon Tan, dari kelab Persatuan Ragbi Gabungan Bekas Pemain (Cobra), sebagai pengurus pasukan baru negara, sekali gus menyelia pemilihan pemain menerusi dua kejohanan, tidak lama lagi.

"Ujian pemilihan baru skuad negara akan dilakukan selepas Tujuh Sebelah Borneo iRB di Kota Kinabalu dan Cobra 10'S di Petaling Jaya, tetapi kami masih memerlukan bantuan kewangan dan penajaan untuk ke Sukan Asia," katanya kepada Utusan Malaysia, semalam.


Mengenai sama ada ramai pemain daripada skuad Sukan Komanwel bakal digugurkan, katanya: ''Ia terserah kepada Boon menerusi ujian pemilihan baru itu, tetapi dalam perjumpaan dengan pasukan baru-baru ini, saya dapati semangat mereka tidak terjejas.

"Saya harap pihak lain berlaku adil terhadap skuad negara di Delhi, kerana kita bertemu juara dunia seperti Samoa dan juara Afrika, Kenya. Sukan Asia taraf persaingannya lebih rendah," katanya.

Di Delhi, Malaysia yang dilatih Tomasi Cama dari Fiji, dibelasah juara dunia Samoa 61-0, juara Afrika, Kenya 40-0 dan Papua New Guinea 56-0 di peringkat kumpulan selain dikalahkan Uganda 26-14 dalam suku akhir plate.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
