Ratu 400m lari berpagar disenarai dalam Kategori B

WALAUPUN gagal melepasi had kelayakan ditetapkan, ratu 400 meter lari berpagar negara Noraseela Khalid mampu menghela nafas lega apabila namanya disahkan tersenarai ke Sukan Asia XVI Guangzhou dari 12 hingga 27 November ini.

Setiausaha Kehormat Majlis Olimpik Malaysia (MOM), Datuk Sieh Kok Chi yang sedang menghadiri mesyuarat Persatuan Jawatankuasa Olimpik Kebangsaan (ANOC) di Mexico mengesahkan nama pemenang gangsa Doha 2006 itu tersenarai dalam kontinjen olahraga ke temasya berprestij itu.

“Mengapa kita perlu menghalang atlit bertanding sedangkan ramai pegawai termasuk dari negeri yang tidak ada kena mengena turut pergi ke temasya itu,” katanya.

Timbalan Presiden Kesatuan Olahraga Amatur Malaysia (KOAM), Karim Ibrahim mengesahkan pihaknya menyenaraikan pelari 30 tahun itu bertanding di bawah Kategori B.

“Begitupun, peluangnya beraksi belum terjamin kerana keputusan hanya akan diputuskan selepas presiden (Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim) dan ahli majlis meneliti catatan masanya ketika Kejohanan Terbuka KOAM di Kompleks MSN Bukit Jalil, 30 dan 31 Oktober ini,” katanya.

Selain Noraseela, Karim berkata, pihaknya turut menyenaraikan enam lagi atlit dan dua jurulatih di bawah Kategori B yang memerlukan badan induk itu mengeluarkan antara RM30,000 hingga RM35,000 bagi menampung perbelanjaan mereka.
Sementara itu, Karim berkata, Kejohanan Terbuka KOAM disertai lebih 250 atlit dari 12 negara termasuk atlit Qatar, Jordan, Arab Saudi, Thailand dan Indonesia yang turut bersaing di Guangzhou.

“Ini adalah kejohanan antarabangsa terakhir yang menjadi pemanas badan untuk atlit sebelum bersaing di Guangzhou,” katanya.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
