KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's wushu squad members, who are undergoing intensive training in Beijing since last month, will continue with their preparations there before heading for Guangzhou, which is hosting this year's Asian Games from Nov 12 to 27.
Wushu Federation of Malaysia (WFM) executive secretary, Winnie Chin Kim Yoong told Bernama here today that they would not be returning to Malaysia prior to the Games and that their target was to defend the single gold they won at the Doha Asian Games four years ago.
The squads members are Lee Yang, Loh Jack Chang, Chai Foong Ying, Ng Shin Yii, Diana Bong, Tai Cheau Xuen and Ang Eng Chong for the Taolu event while Lee Sew Kit will compete in the Sanshou event.
Meanwhile, the national cycling squad's chief coach John Beasley said he would be discussing with the Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) on sending members of the road cycling squad to Colorado, United States for intensive training to raise their level of performance.
In a statement issued here, Beasley said newly-appointed road racing coach John Seers was of the view that the topography in Colorada was most suitable for the purpose.
MNCF president Abu Samah Wahab, when contacted, said he would study the matter and bring it up with Youth and Sports Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohid Mohamad and Le Tour de Langkawi 2011 chief executive officer, Mohamed Salleh.
