WALAUPUN Sukan Olimpik 2012 berbaki 16 bulan lagi tetapi dua musuh tradisi - Lee Chong Wei dan Lin Dan - dijangka bertembung sekali lagi di final pentas temasya terulung dunia itu untuk memburu kemasyhuran memenangi pingat emas.
Ramalan itu disuarakan jurulatih jaguh nombor satu dunia itu, Tey Seu Bock berdasarkan prestasi semasa yang menyaksikan kedua-duanya masih berada dalam kelas tersendiri dan sukar ditandingi pemain lain.
“Walaupun temasya berprestij itu lama lagi, tetapi saya percaya Chong Wei dan Lin Dan masih kekal selaku pemain pilihan memenangi emas yang dipertandingkan dalam acara perseorangan lelaki,” katanya semalam.

Seu Bock berkata, apa yang perlu dilakukan kedua-duanya adalah mengekalkan tahap kecergasan dan mengelakkan kecederaan yang boleh meranapkan impian mereka untuk mengulangi pertembungan impian final 2008 yang menyaksikan ‘Super Dan’ meraih emas di gelanggang sendiri.

“Sekiranya kedua-duanya ditakdirkan bertemu sekali lagi, ia pasti akan menjadi pentas berbeza dengan gelanggang berkecuali menjadi saksi dan hanya prestasi pada hari pertandingan bakal menjadi pemisah kepada kedua-dua pemain,” katanya.

Begitupun, Seu Bock tidak menafikan faktor usia Chong Wei yang akan mencecah 30 tahun dan Lin Dan, 29, pada temasya berprestij itu mungkin menjadi satu-satunya faktor yang boleh menjejaskan peluang mereka.
“Sukan Olimpik adalah pentas tertinggi yang mempunyai tekanan tinggi dan sering menyaksikan kejutan. Jadi, kita perlu memantau perkembangan dan peningkatan pemain muda lain, apalagi, masa masih jauh dan segala-galanya serba kemungkinan,” katanya.

Govt Always Gives Emphasis To Sporting Culture, Says PM

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
