PELUMBA basikal terbaik negara, Azizulhasni Awang tidak melihat perdebatan yang mempersoal kemampuannya untuk menghadiahkan pingat emas kepada negara di Sukan Olimpik 2012 sebagai satu perkara serius yang mampu menjejaskan tumpuannya.
Bagi pelumba berusia 23 tahun yang juga pernah menduduki ranking pertama dunia dalam acara keirin itu melihat keraguan terhadap keupayaannya menyumbangkan emas pertama dari sudut positif.

“Biar apapun orang mahu bercakap ia tidak akan menjejaskan usaha saya. Terpulang kepada mereka untuk menganggap peluang saya tipis. Bagi saya ia membuatkan saya lebih fokus dan mengurangkan tekanan. Setiap kritikan membuatkan saya lebih bersemangat untuk berlatih dan menang,” katanya.
Terdahulu, Setiausaha Kehormat Majlis Olimpik Malaysia (MOM), Datuk Sieh Kok Chi berkata, peluang pemenang pingat emas Sukan Asia dalam acara keirin itu tidak secerah pemain badminton negara Datuk Lee Chong Wei.

Pandangan itu dilontarkan Kok Chi yang melihat Azizul perlu berdepan pelumba rumah, England yang menurunkan barisan pelumba kuat termasuk seteru utamanya, Chris Hoy yang kerap mencipta kemenangan di peringkat antarabangsa termasuk tiga pingat emas di Olimpik 2008 di Beijing.

Bagaimanapun, keputusan di Kejohanan Trek Dunia di Apeldoorn, Belanda berakhir Ahad lalu membuktikan tiada yang mustahil apabila Hoy tumpas di tangan pelumba Australia seperti Shane Perkins dalam acara keirin dan pelumba Perancis, Gregory Bauge dalam pecut.

“Dalam acara pecut dan keirin, kita tidak boleh membuat ramalan. Apa saja boleh berlaku dan saya tidak terkejut dengan kegagalan Hoy. Ia lumrah acara ini.

“Saya tetap yakin dan dengan iringan doa dari rakyat Malaysia yang mahukan saya berjaya, akan berusaha menyumbangkan sesuatu buat negara,” katanya.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach. "After listening to the recording of the post-match press conference, we decided to drop the charge against Rajagopal as he did not make such a statement.
