Skuad hoki sasar kelompok empat pasukan terbaik

MENAMATKAN cabaran dalam kelompok empat pasukan terbaik adalah sasaran skuad hoki Malaysia menjelang kancah saingan Piala Sultan Azlan Shah ke-10 di Ipoh pada 5 sehingga 15 Mei ini.

Setiausaha Persekutuan Hoki Malaysia (PHM), Maninderjit Singh berkata, jika mampu melakukannya ia tetap dianggap pencapaian terbaik memandangkan kejohanan kali ini disertai oleh pasukan yang berada dalam 10 ranking terbaik dunia

Maninderjit yang lebih dikenali dengan panggilan mesra “Mike” berkata Australia selaku juara dunia menduduki ranking pertama manakala Britain (keempat), Korea Selatan (keenam), Pakistan (kelapan) dan India (sembilan). Manakala Malaysia berada pada ranking ke-15 Persekutuan Hoki Dunia (FIH).
“Kejohanan kali ini disertai pasukan yang menduduki ranking tertinggi semasa. Jika Malaysia mampu menamatkan cabaran dalam kelompok empat terbaik saya kira sudah cukup bagus,” katanya selepas majlis mempromosi kejohanan di Tol Ipoh Selatan, Ampang Lebuhraya Plus Selatan-Utara oleh Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Pengelola, Datuk Abdul Rahim Mat Ariff, semalam.

Pada majlis itu Abdul Rahim yang juga Naib Presiden PHM menyampaikan cenderahati beg berisi jadual pertandingan poket, pelekat kereta dan minuman isotonik kepada pengguna lebuhraya dari arah Selatan.

Sementara itu, Abdul Rahim yang juga Presiden Persatuan Hoki Perak (PHP) berharap peminat hoki akan hadir beramai-ramai ke stadium setiap hari untuk memeriahkan kejohanan jemputan berprestij itu serta memberi sokongan kepada pasukan negara.

Rahim juga mengumumkan penubuhan kelab peminat hoki Perak (KPHP) diterajui seorang ahli perniagaan, Datuk Amaluddin Ismail yang akan menyemarak sokongan kepada pasukan negara bersama kumpulan penyokong terdiri daripada pelajar sekolah

Govt Always Gives Emphasis To Sporting Culture, Says PM

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach. "After listening to the recording of the post-match press conference, we decided to drop the charge against Rajagopal as he did not make such a statement.
