Jalur Gemilang berkibar di Jerman


Pandelela Rinong dan Leong Mun Yee mengharumkan nama Malaysia di Grand Prix FINA, Jerman, kelmarin apabila meraih pingat emas dalam acara terjun 10 meter.


KUALA LUMPUR - Gandingan Pandelela Rinong dan Leong Mun Yee melakar sejarah apabila merangkul pingat emas acara 10 meter platform berirama pada hari terakhir saingan Grand Prix Terjun FINA di Rostock, Jerman, kelmarin.

Kejayaan manis itu membuktikan gandingan mereka kian serasi, sekali gus mencerahkan peluang Malaysia meraih pingat pertama menerusi sukan terjun pada Sukan Olimpik di London tahun depan.

Sekalipun tanpa kehadiran tiga pasangan ranking teratas dunia, emas yang diraih tetap bermakna bagi kedua-dua mereka kerana masing-masing belum pernah mengecapinya di peringkat dunia, terutamanya Mun Yee yang sudah menjangkau penghujung karier.

Lebih penting, ia hadir tepat pada masanya bagi menyuntik keyakinan mereka menjelang Kejohanan Dunia di Shanghai, China yang pastinya jauh lebih sukar daripada saingan mereka hadapi di Rostock.
Tanpa kelibat pemenang pingat emas Olimpik, Chen Ruolin mahupun juara dunia Hu Yadan, serta ketidakhadiran pasangan Kanada, Roseline Filion-Meaghan Benfeito dan Alexandra Croak-Melissa Wu dari Australia, Mun Yee-Pandelela, ranking No. 4 dunia, memanfaatkan peluang untuk menyerlah kali ini.
Mereka meraih 312.96 mata daripada lima terjunan untuk mengatasi pasangan pelapis China, Xing Yiying-Si Yajie (309.00) dan pasangan tuan rumah, Nora Subschinski-Christin Steuer (300.54).

Lebih manis buat Pandelela, dia menebus kekecewaan tewas kepada Yiying dalam acara individu dua hari sebelumnya.
Gandingan Pandelela-Mun Yee sebelum ini sering berpuas hati dengan pingat perak termasuk pada Sukan Asia Guangzhou dan Sukan Komanwel New Delhi, penghujung tahun lalu.

Kedua-duanya sebelum ini juga cemerlang meraih perak pada pusingan kedua Siri Terjun Dunia FINA; pertandingan elit dunia di Beijing, Mac lalu.

Sementara itu, Mun Yee yang turut bertanding dalam acara 3m papan anjal berirama berganding dengan Wendy Ng Yan Yee, gagal menambah pungutan pingat acara itu setelah mengakhiri saingan di tempat keempat.

Mereka yang mencatatkan 260.70 mata, hanya dipisahkan 20 mata daripada kedudukan pingat gangsa yang diraih pasangan Ukraine, Olena Fedorova-Anna Pysmenska (280.50).

Acara itu diungguli Ye Chen-Qu Lin dengan catatan 308.40 dan pasangan Jerman, Tina Punzel-Nora Subchinski (291.00) merangkul perak.
Dalam aksi 10m platform lelaki, Bryan Nickson Lomas dan Ooi Tze Liang terkandas di separuh akhir.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
