Naim tidak berminat bertanding naib presiden

KUALA LUMPUR - Ura-ura mengenai Timbalan Presiden Persatuan Kebangsaan Berbasikal Malaysia (PKBM), Datuk Naim Mohamad akan bertanding jawatan Naib Presiden Majlis Olimpik Malaysia (MOM) terjawab apabila beliau menyangkal khabar angin tersebut.

Naim yang akan menjadi chef-de-mission Malaysia ke Sukan SEA Jakarta, November ini menolak ura-ura mengenai beliau akan bertanding dalam pemilihan MOM tatkala tempoh untuk menghantar senarai nama pencalonan masih dibuka dan akan berakhir Selasa depan.

"Tidak ada pencalonan dan jika ada sekali pun saya tidak berminat untuk bertanding. Sebelum ini Setiausaha Kehormat MOM, Datuk Sieh Kok Chi ada menawarkan kepada saya berikutan kekosongan yang ditinggalkan Datuk A. Sani Karim, tetapi menolak pelawaan tersebut," katanya ketika dihubungi Utusan Malaysia, semalam.

Sani menawarkan diri untuk bertanding jawatan Timbalan Presiden MOM selepas penyandangnya, Tan Sri Dr. M. Jegathesan mengesahkan tidak akan mempertahankan jawatan.

Jelas Naim, walaupun ditawarkan oleh Kok Chi untuk bertanding jawatan tersebut dan dikatakan antara calon yang layak, beliau menolak dengan baik dengan memberi alasan untuk menumpukan sepenuh perhatian kepada sukan berbasikal yang disenaraikan dalam Program Road To London 2012.

"Tambahan pula saya perlu memberi tumpuan yang lebih menjelang November ini kerana menjadi CDM untuk kontinjen negara di Sukan SEA Jakarta, memang dalam tempoh dua bulan ini saya tidak sibuk tetapi menjelang September saya harus beri komitmen yang lebih.

"Jika ada orang yang mencalonkan saya bagi jawatan tersebut, saya akan menolaknya dengan baik, mungkin sekarang masih kurang sesuai buat saya memberi komitmen jika dipilih menjadi Naib Presiden MOM," katanya.

Selepas pencalonan ditutup pada 7 Jun ini, senarai calon yang bertanding bagi penggal 2011-2013 akan disediakan untuk membolehkan 105 wakil daripada 35 ahli gabungan mengundi pada mesyuarat agung 18 Jun.

Govt Always Gives Emphasis To Sporting Culture, Says PM

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
