JAKARTA, June 24 (Bernama) -- The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) are looking towards Indonesia to set up their very own training and development centre.
Something to model that of their Indonesian counterpart in Cipayung, an hour and a half drive from the capital.
BAM's High Performance Director Datuk James Selvaraj who visited the centre today, came away impressed with the set-up there.
"They have complete facilities a badminton training centre needs, and even more, like a swimming pool and a running track.
"of course the basics are also there. Like living quarters and training halls," said Selvaraj.
The BAM is looking to set up their own training centre in Kuala Lumpur, a place they can call their own.
"We need a dedicated training centre if we are to start producing and grooming future stars. We need specialized facilities for badminton training and unless you have your own centre, you cannot do so.
"I need to impress our officials on the importance of having our own centre and the Indonesian Badminton academy is an impressive one," added Selvaraj.
