PERSATUAN Bolasepak Malaysia (FAM) tetap menganggap mereka melakukan keputusan tepat dengan hanya menyediakan satu pasukan untuk mengharungi Sukan Sea Indonesia dan pusingan kelayakan Sukan Olimpik London 2012 November ini biarpun tindakan itu dikritik segelintir pihak.

Naib Presiden, Datuk Afandi Hamzah berkata, pasukan Olimpik kendalian jurulatih Ong Kim Swee sudah melakukan persiapan rapi sejak awal dan dilihat mampu memberikan persembahan terbaik dalam kedua-dua kejohanan itu walaupun terpaksa mengharungi jadual perlawanan yang padat.

“Pendapat semua pihak ada asasnya dan mereka boleh memberikan pandangan masing-masing. Tapi masalah pertembungan jadual bola sepak Sukan Sea dan kelayakan Olimpik hanya kebetulan kerana tidak pernah berlaku dua kejohanan itu dilangsungkan pada tempoh lebih kurang sama sebelum ini. Malah kami juga hanya mengetahui secara rasmi tarikh jadual perlawanan kelayakan Olimpik selepas majlis undian Julai lalu.

“Kami membuat persiapan rapi untuk skuad Olimpik yang kesemuanya pemain bawah 23 tahun manakala acara bola sepak Sukan Sea juga untuk pemain bawah 23 tahun dan atas sebab itu FAM membuat keputusan untuk menghantar pasukan yang sama.

“Kedua-dua kejohanan ini sama penting dan memang kami meletakkan sasaran untuk mara ke final Sukan Sea dan juga beraksi cemerlang di pusingan kelayakan Olimpik dan pasukan yang dibarisi pemain bawah 23 tahun ini semestinya yang berdaya saing,” jelas Afandi.

Dalam laporan Arena Metro semalam, pengkritik sukan, Serbegeth Singh mempersoal tindakan FAM yang tidak menyediakan pasukan berbeza bagi menghadapi Sukan Sea Indonesia dan pusingan peringkat Kumpulan C kelayakan Olimpik London.

Selain jadual padat yang boleh menjejaskan prestasi pemain, bekas pemain kebangsaan itu juga berpendapat lebih baik FAM menyediakan dua pasukan bagi membolehkan lebih ramai pemain muda mendapat pendedahan.

Final acara bola sepak Sukan Sea Indonesia akan berlangsung pada 22 November manakala perlawanan kedua Malaysia dalam kumpulan C kelayakan Olimpik menentang Syria pula pada 23 November dan seterusnya bertemu Bahrain 27 November.
Apa yang diharapkan FAM ketika ini agar permohonan mereka untuk menunda perlawanan dengan Syria berjaya bagi mengelakkan sebarang masalah jika Malaysia layak beraksi di final Sukan Sea untuk mempertahankan pingat emas yang dimenangi di Laos pada 2009.

“Kita akui jadual padat boleh menjejaskan persiapan tapi kita akan cuba atasi perkara ini dan diharap permohonan untuk menunda perlawanan dengan Syria akan berjaya,” kata Afandi.

Sebelum perlawanan menentang Syria, Malaysia wakil tunggal Asia Tenggara akan memulakan kempen kelayakan Kumpulan C menentang Jepun di Stadium Tosu pada 21 September ini.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
