Azlan mara selepas singkirkan Beng Hee

KUALA LUMPUR - Pemain skuasy lelaki utama negara, Mohd. Azlan Iskandar menewaskan rakan senegara, Ong Beng Hee dalam pertembungan sesama sendiri untuk mara ke pusingan kedua Terbuka Dunia di Rotterdam, Belanda kelmarin.

Bagaimanapun, Mohd. Azlan tidak diberi laluan mudah oleh Beng Hee apabila dipaksa bekerja keras selama 76 minit sebelum memenanginya dengan 11-3, 11-7, 3-11, 11-5.

Pertembungan sengit itu diduga memandangkan masing-masing memahami corak permainan satu sama lain dengan Beng Hee yang kini menghuni ranking ke-29 dunia cuba bangkit selepas mencuri set ketiga.
Namun, Mohd. Azlan selaku pilihan ke-13, jelas lebih tajam dari segi penyudah dan hebat menguasai gelanggang bagi menyekat kebangkitan Beng Hee dan sekali gus melengkapkan kemenangan pada set berikutnya.

Mohd. Azlan akan bertemu pemain Bostwana, Alister Walker pada pusingan kedua.
Turut turun gelanggang lewat malam semalam ialah pemain wanita No. 1 dunia, Nicol David yang juga bertemu rakan senegara, Delia Arnold pada pusingan wanita.

Seorang lagi pemain negara, Low Wee Wern diramal tidak mempunyai masalah untuk mara dalam pertemuan dengan Latasha Khan dari Amerika Syarikat.

Govt Always Gives Emphasis To Sporting Culture, Says PM

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach.
