KBS tidak halang penyertaan Brunei

KEMENTERIAN Belia dan Sukan (KBS) tidak mempunyai masalah untuk melihat kehadiran semula skuad kebangsaan Brunei dalam saingan bola sepak Liga Malaysia (Liga-M) sebagai salah satu usaha mengeratkan hubungan dua hala antara kedua- dua negara dalam bidang sukan.

Menterinya, Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek berkata, Persatuan Bola Sepak Malaysia (FAM) dan Persatuan Bola Sepak Brunei boleh berbincang bagi menentukan mekanisme yang sesuai untuk memastikan perkara tersebut terlaksana.

"Kita tahu kerjasama dalam bidang sukan bukan sahaja melibatkan antara kerajaan dengan kerajaan tetapi juga antara persatuan sukan.

Beliau berkata demikian kepada para pemberita selepas menyertai perlawanan golf dengan rakan sejawatnya dari Brunei, Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Datuk Seri Setia Awang Hazir Awang Abdullah di Kelab Golf Kuala Lumpur (KLGCC) semalam.

Pasukan kebangsaan Brunei menyertai Liga Malaysia yang ketika itu dikenali dengan nama Liga Semi-Pro dari tahun 1989-1993 sebelum berpindah ke Liga Singapura pada 2009.

Brunei sebelum itu pernah menjulang Piala Malaysia pada tahun 1999 selepas mengalahkan Sarawak 2-1 di Stadium Merdeka.

Ahmad Shabery berkata, KBS juga akan memperkembangkan beberapa perkara yang boleh dijalinkan antara kedua-dua negara pada masa akan datang seperti penyertaan semula Brunei dalam Sukan Malaysia (Sukma).

"Dari segi belia umpamanya, kita akan mengundang Brunei untuk menghantar wakil mereka pada sambutan Hari Belia Negara dan juga kerjasama lain yang akan berterusan selepas ini," katanya.

Sementara itu, Awang Hazir berkata, lawatan berkenaan amat bermakna dalam memperkukuhkan hubungan antara kedua-dua kementerian tersebut selepas mereka memeterai memorandum persefahaman (MoU) di Brunei tahun lepas.

"Kita turut melihat beberapa bidang lain yang boleh diperkembangkan dan mengenal pasti bidang-bidang baharu dalam sukan dan belia yang boleh kita kembang dan majukan pada masa depan bagi memastikan hubungan erat antara kedua-dua negara akan dapat dikekalkan," katanya.

Awang Hazir yang tiba di Kuala Lumpur pada Rabu lalu dengan rombongan seramai 15 orang akan mengadakan lawatan kerja selama lima hari ke negara ini sebagai membalas kunjungan hormat yang dilakukan oleh Ahmad Shabery pada tahun lepas.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
