MOM akan 'bicara' Yunus, Firdaus

KUALA LUMPUR - Majlis Olimpik Malaysia (MOM) akan mengarahkan dua atlet pemenang pingat emas dan gangsa negara, Yunus Lasaleh dan Firdaus Razak yang disahkan positif dalam ujian doping pada Sukan SEA Indonesia, November lalu, hadir memberikan keterangan pada sesi pendengaran khas yang akan dikendalikannya.

Presiden MOM, Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja'afar berkata, sesi itu bertujuan memberikan peluang yang adil untuk kedua-duanya membela diri dan menjelaskan keadaan sebenar serta bagaimana boleh terlibat atau sama ada pihak lain turut memaksa mereka mengambilnya.

Namun, MOM tidak mempunyai kuasa untuk menjatuhkan sebarang hukuman.
Sebaliknya, kata beliau, hasil penemuan daripada sesi pendengaran itu akan dilaporkan semula kepada Persekutuan Sukan SEA (SEAGF) dan Jawatankuasa Pengelola Sukan SEA Indonesia (Inasoc) selaku pihak yang bertanggungjawab mengendalikan temasya dwitahunan ke-26 itu di Palembang dan Jakarta.

"Sebarang hukuman pun hanya akan dikenakan oleh badan induk antarabangsa sukan yang disertai kedua-dua atlet itu (olahraga dan angkat berat) serta Agensi Antidadah Dunia (WADA) yang biasanya penggantungan dua tahun jika didapati bersalah buat kali pertama," katanya selepas mesyuarat khas lembaga MOM di Wisma MOM di sini, semalam.

Kata Tunku Imran, SEAGF bagaimanapun hanya berhak merombak keputusan atau membatalkan kedua-dua atlet itu sekiranya didapati bersalah, menarik balik pingat yang mereka menangi dan menyerahkan kepada atlet lain yang berkedudukan terhampir dalam acara berkenaan (4x400 meter olahraga dan 94-105 kilogram angkat berat lelaki).

"Ketika mesyuarat tadi, saya turut berbual menerusi telefon dengan Rita Subowo (Pengerusi Inasoc dan Ketua Umum Jawatankuasa Sukan Kebangsaan Indonesia - KONI) dan dia bersetuju untuk membenarkan MOM mengendalikan sesi pendengaran ini bagi pihak mereka. Kami juga memaklumkan hasrat untuk menyelesaikan kes ini dengan segera," katanya.

Mengenai penyerahan petisyen oleh 58 atlet dan jurulatih olahraga kepada Kesatuan Olahraga Malaysia (KOM) yang menuntut penyingkiran Timbalan Presidennya, Datuk Karim Ibrahim, kata Tunku Imran, mereka dialu-alukan untuk menubuhkan sebuah panel siasatan yang bebas dan majlis sedia membantu memberikan nasihat sekiranya terdapat permintaan kesatuan.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed.
