Suryani atlet terbaik kejutkan calon pilihan

PETALING JAYA - Tanpa diletakkan sebarang ramalan, ratu menembak negara, Nur Suryani Taibi berjaya mencipta kejutan apabila muncul pemenang Anugerah Atlet Terbaik SAM 100Plus 2011 dengan mengetepikan nama besar lain seperti Datuk Lee Chong Wei dan Datuk Nicol David, semalam.

Pemenang dua pingat emas Sukan SEA XXVI Indonesia itu turut menewaskan dua lagi calon, pemain boling wanita negara, Jacqueline Jenelee Sijore dan pelumba berbasikal wanita yang semakin meningkat, Fatehah Mustapa.

Meraih undian tertinggi daripada penulis sukan media cetak dan elektronik, Suryani secara jujur mengakui langsung tidak menduga akan meraih gelaran itu biarpun mengetahui namanya berada dalam senarai pencalonan.

''Saya benar-benar terkejut sebab memang tidak jangka akan menang untuk anugerah kali ini kerana saya datang ke majlis ini untuk memenuhi jemputan dan langsung tidak menyimpan harapan untuk menang.
''Apabila nama saya diumumkan, saya agak tergamam dan gembira tidak terkata, ini antara penghargaan terbesar yang saya pernah capai.

''Mungkin kejayaan yang saya raih di Sukan SEA tahun lalu menjadi faktor mengapa saya dipilih menjadi atlet terbaik SAM, " katanya yang membawa pulang RM10,000 dan trofi.

Hadiah kemenangan disampaikan Menteri Belia dan Sukan, Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek dalam majlis yang turut dihadiri Ketua Pengarah Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN), Datuk Zolkples Embong dan Presiden Persatuan Penulis-Penulis Sukan Malaysia (SAM), Ahmad Khawari Isa.

Antara tetamu-tetamu jemputan yang hadir ialah Setiausaha Agung Konfederasi Bola Sepak Asia (AFC), Datuk Alex Soosay, Setiausaha Kehormat MOM, Datuk Sieh Kok Chi dan Naib Presiden Persatuan Bola Sepak Malaysia (FAM), Datuk Hamidin Mohd.Amin.

Anugerah Kebangkitan Terbaik 2011 menjadi milik pemain snuker veteran, Sam Chong, manakala skuad bola sepak Sukan SEA 2011 meraih anugerah Out-Do Yourself.

Juara remaja dunia, Zulfadli Zulkifli pula menerima anugerah Atlet Harapan 2011 dan Kongres Tenpin Boling Malaysia dipilih sebagai persatuan terbaik.

Rajagobal Let Off The Hook

PETALING JAYA, April 24 (Bernama) -- National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal was let off the hook by the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after finding no evidence that he had violated FAM's Article 88, as claimed. FAM Disciplinary Committee chairman Datuk Taufik Abdul Razak said the committee had decided not to charge Rajagobal after carefully analysing the video of the post-match press conference by the 56-year-old coach. "After listening to the recording of the post-match press conference, we decided to drop the charge against Rajagopal as he did not make such a statement.
